Why did Kangxi, as the "emperor of the ages", build his mausoleum in a deep pool?

The choice of cemetery is a very serious matter, especially for the emperors in ancient China. They will rack their brains to choose a place with a treasure trove of feng shui, so that their wealth and power will last forever after death. Why did Emperor Kangxi do the opposite and choose to build his mausoleum in a big puddle?

Emperor Kangxi reigned for 6 1 year, and was famous for his diligence and love for the people. He was the longest reigning monarch in the history of China. Other emperors began to build mausoleums when they ascended the throne, but Emperor Kangxi did not do so until middle age. After three years of searching, officials finally found a "land of feng shui".

Surrounded by mountains, green water and evergreen pines and cypresses, the only drawback of this geomantic treasure house is that there is a deep pool in the middle, which is bottomless, and the bottom of the deep pool is connected with Longmenkou in the south of the mausoleum area. According to local people, dragons often haunt underwater. Whenever there is a drought, people come to this deep pool for rain, which is very effective and responsive. Later, Changrui Mountain, where the whole deep pool is located, was designated as the Mausoleum.

Emperor Kangxi, who got the news, personally went to inspect it. After the inspection, Emperor Kangxi stayed in the local palace that night, although he didn't say a word. He should be satisfied with this place. Sure enough, the next day, Emperor Kangxi announced the construction of Jingling there. It is reported that on the day of the construction of Jingling, the bottomless deep pool was reduced to only half an acre, which surprised the ministers and craftsmen who were ordered to build the mausoleum. After the craftsmen scooped up the remaining half of the pool day and night, it was built immediately. After six years, Jingling was finally built.
