The method of Feng Shui focuses on water, and the utilization and development of wells is an important symbol of human transformation of nature and further expansion of living space. Nowadays, tap water is used everywhere except in remote areas. Wells are no longer as important as before. However, wells are still used in some places in the countryside, and wells are also dug in villa areas in cities for backup. As for the good or bad luck of the well, it depends on the soil quality, water quality, location and surrounding environment. Because water wells are the source of water for residences and are related to the good and bad fortune of a family and a village, they are very particular and have many likes and taboos:
1. From the perspective of orientation, it is better to be in the white tiger side of the house or to have a prosperous person. If the well is in a village, it should not be too far away from the village, as it may cause inconvenience in life. It is taboo to place it in the Zi, Wu, Mao, and You four positions of the house or directly opposite the gate. It is also taboo to place it in the Dragon side of the house.
2. The soil should be clean, and garbage or harmful substances should not pollute the well water. It is best to go to a specialized agency to test the water quality.
3. The well should not be too deep and should not be level with the ground. It should be higher than the ground and have bricks and stones to block it. It is better to have a cover. This can prevent dirt from falling in and make people feel safer.
4. Abandoned old wells should be filled with new yellow soil in auspicious directions on a "closed" day.
5. The five elements of well water are yin, and the stove is yang. Avoid the opposition of yin and yang. It is not suitable to see the well directly at the stove.
In general, it is better to place it in the Baihu side or Shengwang side of the house. If the well is in a village, it should not be too far away from the village, which may easily cause inconvenience in life. Avoid the four squares of Zi, Wu, Mao and You in the house. If the position is facing the gate, it is also taboo to place the dragon in the house.
6. The well should not be located at the water level in a polluted area, nor should it be close to toilets, ditches and garbage dumps.
7. It is unlucky to have a big tree near a well, but it is auspicious to plant some bamboo, persimmon, and wolfberry.
8. Dig wells during the yang period from winter solstice to summer solstice, and avoid the yin period from summer solstice to winter solstice.
9. Well water from nearby mines containing heavy metals such as lead or sulfur hot springs that are harmful to the human body should not be used as drinking water.
10. The shape of the water well should be square, round, or trigram shape, which means that metal and water are in harmony.
