Starting today, we will track the competitive level of the top 100 players in each country/region, so as to judge the average level of each country/region. Then in April, according to the above average scores, the top 32 countries/regions of the world's top players were selected to participate in the offline qualifiers.
These countries/regions will compete for the opportunity to appear in the 20 17 Blizzard Carnival with every 8 teams as a group.
In the 20 16 World Cup, Blizzard directly named 5 1 countries/regions, and then conducted qualifiers to determine the number of participants.
During the 20 17 World Cup, Blizzard set up a ranking list, which listed the real-time average scores of the top 100 players in various countries/regions.
As of April 25th, the top 32 countries/regions have won the qualifying seats.
2. How to form a team?
After selecting 32 participating countries/regions, players from these countries/regions will form the representative committees of the 20 17 World Cup in their respective countries/regions.
The committee of each country/region will be composed of 3 experts from that country/region, who will be responsible for all stages of the recommendation activities (including the finals of Blizzard Carnival! ) list of entries. The Committee will select the team lineup according to the players' cooperation, hero pool and competition record.
In the 20 16 World Cup, Blizzard directly named a list of dozens of candidates for each participating country/region, including professional players, anchors and ladder players, and the players voted. The player who gets the first four votes is elected, and the player who gets the first vote becomes the captain, and has the right to choose two others to fill the six-person team.
In the 20 17 World Cup, Blizzard will nominate a shortlist of 10 members for each participating country/region, all of whom are local experts, including analysts, coaches, statisticians and other watch authorities. Players will vote for three people to set up their national committee. And this Committee will play a key role in the process of selecting players.
Although it is not clear how the Committee selects the contestants, the process of forming the participating teams this year is one step more than last year: from direct election to indirect election.
Players choose the committee that is the fairest in their hearts and knows the strength of domestic teams and players best, and then the committee is responsible for organizing the team. According to blizzard's announcement, the Committee even has the right to change players during the game.
This can dilute the influence of players' popularity on team formation, and also avoid the embarrassing situation that some national team captains were popular anchors in prime time last year.
3. How to play the qualifying round?
This year, offline qualifiers will be held around the world to further expand the influence of the event!
You don't have to go to California to watch the Watch Pioneer World Cup. Thirty-two teams selected by the contestants will take part in four offline qualifiers (group matches) held in Europe, North America and Asia this summer.
In each group match, there will be eight teams fighting fiercely during the week-long schedule, and the top two in each group will automatically advance to the 20 17 Blizzard Carnival to watch the Pioneer World Cup finals.
20 16 World Cup, China, as the main competition area, is eligible to directly advance to the race. Teams from other small divisions will participate in the qualifying matches organized by several large-scale e-sports institutions (such as ESL) to determine the remaining places. At that time, many live broadcasts could not be found.
20 17 World Cup, China will play the qualifiers! At that time, Blizzard will hold a one-week qualifying match (free live broadcast), which will divide 32 national teams into four divisions, and each division will decide two places to participate.
Some national teams may compete across regions, so it is difficult to predict which opponents China will meet on the way to promotion. If you need to play in other divisions, or meet a "foreign" strong team, the qualifying round is particularly difficult.
