Rules, entry methods and award setting of international smoking cessation competition on International Smoking Cessation Day

(Quit & Win) is an international competition, which aims to support and encourage people to quit smoking through rewards. It will be held every two years from 1994. Smoking cessation competition has a positive impact on society by mobilizing the general public to quit smoking in a specific period.

The success of the quit smoking contest lies not only in providing smokers with the opportunity to win grand prizes, but also in its far-reaching significance in showing every participant that the quitters have defeated tobacco and its harm, and that every quitter is a winner and has won health. The international smoking cessation competition has become an important activity to support the implementation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.

From 1996, China participated in five consecutive international smoking cessation competitions. Participants from Tianjin won international awards twice in 1996 and 2002. In 2004, nearly 70,000 people from 25 cities participated, which was the largest number of cities in previous years. Every city has won the organization award of the China Division of the International Quitting Smoking Competition. Countries set up different awards by themselves. The national prize will be decided by drawing lots among qualified registrants. The potential winners will be contacted immediately after the competition. Smoking cessation survey from registrants, if necessary, from references. The winner of the international super prize will be drawn by lot among the winners of major national awards (each country 1). The lucky draw will be concentrated in the 1 area. The minimum standard for a country to qualify for the Super Lottery is at least 100 applicants. Considering that the different population in different countries leads to different winning probabilities, countries get the lottery votes according to the number of participants, that is, every 1000 people 1 ticket. Therefore, a country with 100~999 registrants will get 1 vote, 1000~ 1999 2 votes, 2000~2999 3 votes, and so on.
