A team competition consisting of several individual events is divided into men's team competition and women's team competition. The women's team competition usually adopts the World Table Tennis Women's Team Championship (Columbia Cup). Each unit can submit four players to participate in the competition, and both sides can choose two players from each competition to participate in singles, and then two of the four players can pair up to participate in the third-ranked doubles.
The competition methods of men's and women's team competitions are sometimes universal. For example, the men's team competition adopts the women's team championship system of the World Table Tennis Championships, or the women's team competition adopts the men's team championship system of the World Table Tennis Championships.
