The custom of posting Spring Festival couplets has a history of more than 1000 years. Spring Festival couplets are also called door couplets, spring stickers, couplets and peach symbols. The Spring Festival couplets posted by people in the town, like other places, are nothing more than depicting the background of the times and expressing good wishes and blessings with simple and beautiful words.
But there are also places in the town that are different from other places, that is, the archway Spring Festival couplets set up by pine and cypress branches at the entrance of the kiln and the rough house. The word "Celebrate the Spring Festival" above the lintel of the archway and its couplets consist of a needle spoon (porcelain soup spoon) or a small porcelain plate. This should be a major feature of the porcelain capital.
3, New Year's Eve and Shounian: The people have a mantra "Go home for the New Year if you have money". China people attach great importance to family relations. For family reunion, travelers have to trudge all the way home for reunion and dinner.
4. The New Year's Eve dinner in the town, no matter rich or poor, is absolutely indispensable. "Catfish" is homophonic with "Year", meaning more than one year. Kyoto Chang people also have the custom of eating two New Year's Eve dinners, that is, the 29th and 30th nights of the twelfth lunar month. Why, the older generation said, this is to commemorate the memory of the old ancestors.
When giving lucky money to the younger generation, the older generation repeatedly told the children not to say "dirty words" (unlucky words) during the New Year. Many old people wipe their children's lips with toilet paper on New Year's Eve. The purpose is to treat them as "butt mouths" to prevent children from talking nonsense. Some families still put garlic on furniture and cabinets on New Year's Eve to show their intention of saving money in the coming year.
6. New Year's greetings: Men pay New Year's greetings to each other, making fists with both hands and bowing: "Good health, congratulations on getting rich." When the lady meets, her palms intersect, put them on her right lower abdomen, bend her knees slightly and bow three times. The same step between the two sides is regarded as a New Year greeting, which is only carried out among neighbors, because they are not allowed to go out from the first day to the seventh day, and may stay at home to greet guests.
You can't visit relatives and friends until the eighth day, commonly known as "leaving home". Almost all New Year gifts are a bag of sugar and two sugar cane, and all sugar cane should be labeled with long red paper. Happy New Year is the happiest thing for children. "Happy New Year, Happy New Year, here comes the red envelope" has been sung for hundreds of years.
