Law is uncomfortable and seeks outside, and seeking is not really comfortable. -Travels of Jingshan Temple

There are many famous temples in Jiangnan. Lingyin Temple is the most popular in Hangzhou, but Jingshan Temple in the suburbs is little known. The reason is that the road is far and the mountains are high. I don't know that Jingshan Temple is the first Buddhist temple in the south of the Yangtze River, with a history of 1200 years. Compared with the distant history and little-known reality, Jingshan Temple is a little more desolate, but a little less tacky.

With a pious heart, it took me nearly two hours to drive from Hangzhou to Jingshan Temple in the city center, and Panshan Highway is nearly 10 km. This is really a big challenge for me, because I concentrate on driving and can't enjoy it carefully along the way, but the places I pass are all green bamboos and lush. The old temple in the deep mountains is rugged and crooked. If you seek truth from scripture, you will experience ups and downs. Every section of the road is a mountain road and a heart road.

Jingshan Temple is an ancient temple, but not much can be seen. Endless history has taken away the material, but left nothing behind. The gate of Jingshan Temple is very small. It is really a miniature gate, so visitors here should not enter through the gate. Too common. There are two diamond statues around the hall. The entrance of the gate is a cloister-shaped bridge. The stone bridge is built on the mountain, overlooking it on the right hand side. The sky is high and the clouds are light. The mountains overlap, there is no noise of the city here, only green and clean. At the end of the covered bridge, you can see the imperial tablet of Xiaozong in the Southern Song Dynasty, which is a very small pavilion. The imperial monument is very big, and the words are also very big. Jingshan Sheng Xing manjuji is said to have been written by Emperor Xiaozong.

Jingshan Temple has a big wall, with "two roads leading to the main hall" on the front and "Jingshan Mountain on earth" on the back. At present, there are only three main halls in the temple, and others are still under construction. The architecture of Jingshan Temple is very different from other temples. Some people say that there is a Japanese style, but it is not true. Japanese style was learned from Jingshan Temple, authentic in the Tang Dynasty, and very different from later temples.

First of all, the name of the temple hall is not the standard name of other temples, such as the main hall. Generally, the temple plaque says Mahayana Hall, and the one in Jingshan is called Sakyamuni Buddha Hall. Why do you want to say the name is different? There is no doubt that the main hall is dedicated to Sakyamuni, but "Daxiong" is a respectful name, not a real name. Buddhism talks about "phase", and the Diamond Sutra talks about no self, no self, no sentient beings and no longevity. The four phases only tell the truth, which is the essence of the Diamond Sutra. The honorific title of Daxiong has the meaning of phase. Seeing the real Buddha clearly will break four phases. Therefore, the name of the main hall is also called Sakyamuni Hall, which is intended to emphasize Buddhism.

Second, the color of the Buddha statue in Jingshan Temple is not golden yellow, but slightly dull khaki. The golden body seen by other Buddhist temples is bright, but the Buddha statue here is not. Although it is not very bright, it makes people feel close. Standing in the hall, there will be no sense of distance, which is softer.

Third, the temple lacks a merit list. In other monasteries, you can see a large list of merits and demerits, and the names will appear on the walls. Jingshan Temple does not. I don't know if I didn't donate or if I'm still rebuilding, so I didn't do it.

Monastery, a place where beliefs meet. Most people who come here burn incense and worship Buddha. I don't know how many of these people who kneel and kowtow on the ground believe in Buddhism, but they must have great wishes in their hearts by sincere actions and sincere worship. I just don't know if this small Buddhist temple can accommodate them.

There is only one Buddha, but there are many. What is Buddha? It is consciousness, which should be found from within, not from collapse. If you have a Buddha in your heart, you will see the Buddha. Therefore, the main purpose of the Buddha is to strive for self-improvement, rather than seeking external gifts from the Buddha. The people who bow down to every Buddha in the temple are sincere and firm, and the Buddha will be moved by it, but as soon as they walk out of the temple, they will breathe a sigh of relief. Are they finally relieved? I don't think so, but this is just another photo.

Law is uncomfortable and seeks outside, and seeking is not really comfortable.

The Ming Dynasty's "Pure Shan Zhi" begins by saying that "Jingshan is known as the first Buddhist temple in the southeast of the world. Why is the temple so heavy? Honesty is also very important. " Why is it heavy? Because it is difficult to walk, why is it difficult to walk? Because the world is committed to the outside and will not seek the inside. The foreign will eventually pass away, just like this Jingshan Temple. Its once glory has been scattered in the dust of history, but the spirit of Jingshan Zen is deeply imprinted here.

The temple is not heavy; Daozhong!
