Where is Liuzhou Xilai Temple and its introduction?

Xilai Temple is located on the west side of Linjiang Lane, Yaru Road, Liuzhou City, facing Liujiang River, covering an area of 703 square meters. It is one of the existing ancient temples in Liuzhou. "Coming to the West" means that the founder of Buddhism came to the West from Tianzhu or Buddhist scriptures came from the West. Later generations also called Xilai Ancient Temple because of its long history of construction. The date of construction is unknown, and the earliest record was in the Ming Dynasty. It was rebuilt in the fourth year of Kangxi (1665) in Qing Dynasty, but it was repeatedly destroyed in the third year of Jiaqing (1798), the fourth year of Guangxu (1878), the sixth year of the Republic of China (19 17) and during the Cultural Revolution. Xilai Temple faces the river, with a courtyard in front, a Hall of Great Heroes in the middle and a Shamini house in the east. On the right side of the main entrance of the temple, there is a stone carving of "Guxilai Temple" carved by Wu Jiaxia of Guangxu, with fine carving and fluent calligraphy. There is also a stone carving on the Western Wall, which records the flood in the 28th year of Guangxu (1902) and so on. It is one of the precious historical materials of Liuzhou hydrology and urban construction.

After liberation, Xilai Temple has been repaired many times. Xilai Temple was severely damaged during the Cultural Revolution. After the implementation of the religious policy, Xilai Temple was simply restored and resumed normal religious activities. 1980, the municipal people's government rebuilt and shaped the Buddha statue as it was. With the increasing Buddhist activities, more and more pilgrims gather in Xilai Temple every year, and some tourists come here for sightseeing, with about 20 thousand people every year. Every year, nearly 100 people from famous ancient temples at home and abroad and from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan come to Xilai Temple for Buddhist exchange activities. 1in June, 1983, Xilai Temple and Lingquan Temple jointly held the World Peace Law Society in our temple, and 157 people attended the meeting. Both the Voice of France and new york magazine reported this news, which has certain influence abroad. Every year, during the three Guanyin periods of February 19, June 19 and September 19 of the lunar calendar, temple fairs are held in the temple, with 1 1,000 to 1 1,800 people attending each gathering. The temple is too small to meet the needs of believers' normal religious activities, while Xilai Temple has been dilapidated due to long-term natural invasion and man-made destruction. 1995 On the ninth day of the second lunar month, the renovation and expansion project of Xilai Temple officially started. In order to improve the traffic conditions of Xilai Temple and make its supporting facilities safer and more reasonable, Liuzhou Navigation Supervision Bureau gave Xilai Temple a 7-meter-wide channel facing the river bank for free, built a mountain gate for Xilai Temple and created very convenient conditions for Xilai Temple to carry out religious activities.

1In August, 1996, the reconstruction project of Daxiong Hall, which cost about 165438+ ten thousand yuan, was successfully completed. The reconstructed hall is similar to the original hall in style, and it is also a vermilion column with a ceiling-style lacquer red gallery top. The roof of the hall is a floating eaves, with Buddhist mascots on both sides, and the hall is raised. The three Buddha statues are painted with wood carvings, and there are eighteen arhats carved on both sides with different expressions. The craft is very fine, and a giant cast iron incense seat is added in front of the temple. After reconstruction, the Hall of the Great Heroes is more solemn and elegant in the oriental temples. The second phase expansion project of Xilai Temple also started on 1996 and is expected to be completed in June and July 2000. The rebuilt Xilai Temple covers an area of about 1800 square meters. In recent years, eight young monks and nuns have been ordained in Yunlou Mountain in Jiangxi, Nanhua Temple in Guangdong, Jiuhua Mountain in Anhui and other places, and the rituals in the temple have flourished. Xilai Temple has been established for a long time. It is located in the center of the city. For a long time, it has been one of the important venues for Buddhist disciples and religious believers in Liuzhou, and it has also attracted many tourists from home and abroad to visit.

The current abbot of Xilai Temple is Master Cimo, 66 years old, originally from Liujiang, Guangxi, who became a monk on 1979. He studied under Master Zhi Chan and is now a member of Liuzhou CPPCC.
