How to Cultivate Students' Oral English Ability

English has always played an important role in international communication, and the importance of learning English is well known. With the informationization of social life and the globalization of economic life, the process of China's opening to the outside world is accelerating day by day. Learning and mastering a foreign language and communicating with foreign countries are the basic requirements of national quality. With the increasing demand for spoken English, spoken English is becoming more and more important as a form of English communication. In this form, both teachers and students should take oral English seriously and attach importance to the cultivation of good oral English ability. This also provides a brand-new world for the majority of primary school English teachers, requiring teachers to explore and innovate in teaching content and methods.

In the process of primary school English teaching, we should not only complete the basic teaching tasks of primary school English, but also stimulate students' interest in speaking and learning English from reality, so as to lay the foundation for the sustainable development of students' oral English ability. Starting with students' characteristics and teaching methods, this paper discusses the strategies and strategy training for cultivating primary school students' oral English ability from aspects of improving students' participation consciousness, creating situations, establishing students' self-confidence and opening up a second classroom for oral English learning.

1. The reality and necessity of cultivating primary school oral English ability

There is a passage in the English Teaching Method edited by Li Tingxiang, a professor of foreign languages department of Beijing Normal University: "The purpose of learning English is to communicate in English. English should be taught as a communication tool and should also be studied as a communication tool. " Therefore, we should pay attention to the cultivation of communicative competence in English teaching. Primary school English, as a basic education stage, should also take this as the criterion to cultivate students' good oral English. However, we find that some students often get high marks in exams, but it is difficult for them to speak a few words of English fluently. Some students are too shy to take an active part in oral English activities when practicing oral English in class. Some students have no obvious progress and development in listening and speaking ability with the growth of grade ... Faced with this phenomenon, teachers should mobilize students' sense of sight, hearing and speaking through various means in teaching, so that students can learn to speak English and fall in love with speaking English, and then improve their oral English in the process of continuous listening and speaking.

2. Problems and countermeasures in oral English expression

In communication activities, some students have good ideas, scratching their heads when expressing orally, and the expression is incomplete; Some students are fluent in language and quick-thinking when talking freely, but they will stutter when speaking formally; Some students do well in homework and exams, but they don't raise their hands in class and don't like to talk ... This phenomenon is everywhere, mostly because of the following reasons: students are not interested in spoken English; Inner anxiety and tension; Lack of concentration in expression, personality differences of primary school students, etc. So how can we solve these problems in their oral expression?

(1) Create conditions for listening and speaking.

Spasen said that the first condition for teaching foreign languages well is to let students contact and use foreign languages as much as possible. Learning a foreign language is like learning to swim. Students must soak in water, not touch it occasionally. Students must dive into the water. In this way, he can finally enjoy it like a skilled swimmer. Foreign language teachers should create opportunities for students to listen and speak more.

(2) Create scenarios to stimulate interest.

Confucius, an ancient educator in China, said that "knowledge is not as good as kindness, and kindness is not as good as joy", which shows the importance of interest. Interest is the driving force of learning. Only by stimulating students' strong interest in oral expression can teachers' teaching and training be improved. Situation can stimulate students to speak and provide material for speaking. So as to promote the development of their language use ability. Teachers should be good at using various ways to create an atmosphere of oral English expression, create a situation conducive to students' speaking, stimulate students' desire to speak, and let students perceive, communicate and develop language in the situation. In teaching, various teaching methods such as creating scenes, performing short plays, group dialogues, telling stories and learning to sing can be closely combined with colorful extracurricular activities, giving students opportunities to express themselves, giving them new stimuli and cultivating their strong interest in oral expression.

②- 1. Organize teaching in English to create a good language environment.

When primary school students learn English, what they usually hear, think and speak is Chinese, and only the classroom is the main place for them to contact English. Therefore, teachers should try to grasp the dozens of minutes in class and express themselves in English. In this way, students' thinking will follow the thinking and direction of English, and naturally they will speak English slowly. Of course, they may not understand and be used to it at first. Teachers can try to avoid using Chinese with actions, expressions or proper explanations, let students get in touch with the English language environment and gradually remember some simple classroom teaching terms. For example, the teacher pointed to the blackboard and said, look at the blackboard. Students will understand that the teacher told them to look at the blackboard. The teacher picked up the textbook and said, "Open your books." The students understood the meaning and then opened their textbooks. The teacher immediately said, turn to the second page. And so on, after a long time, students will naturally apply it to their studies. Teachers will drive students to speak English, gradually cultivate their thinking ability, create a good language environment, improve their spoken English, and help strengthen their sense of language.
