How to determine the position of table tennis bye

The position of table tennis bye is decided by drawing lots. The determination of bye position is not arbitrary. We should check the goodbye list. The number of places in the first round of the knockout is called the number of places. According to the number of athletes, choose the nearest or slightly larger power of 2 as the position number, such as 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128.

Determination of "goodbye" position;

When arranging the "bye-bye" positions, seed athletes should give priority to "bye-bye" and the "bye-bye" positions should be evenly distributed. Please refer to the Goodbye number in the Goodbye Location Table.

Look-up table method: according to the number of contestants, select the nearest power slightly greater than 2 as the number of digits, and the number of digits minus the number of contestants as the number of bye digits, and then select the number less than the number of competition digits as the number of bye digits in turn. For example, 123 athletes should choose the number of 128 with five "bye-bye", and then pick out five numbers less than 128, and 2, 127, 66, 63 and 34 are the bye-bye position numbers.
