Nba schedule arrangement rules

Nba schedule rules:

There are 30 teams in the NBA, which are divided into the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference, each with 15 teams. Each league has three divisions, and each division has five teams.

82 regular-season games:

1. Play 2 games with teams from different leagues, home and away 1 game (30 games in total).

2. Play 4 games with teams in the division, with 2 home games each (total 16 games).

3. Play 3 games (12) with 4 teams in different divisions of the league, and 4 games (24 games) with 6 teams.

Among them, the team that played three games and this team's record last season are very different, and the team is far away and arranged by computer. So a team played a total of 82 regular season games.

Each team plays against 29 other teams at home at least once a season. NBA is the only league in North America's top professional sports where all teams meet in the regular season. The schedule of the regular season is rather tight. The team has three or four games a week, and each season has different degrees of "back-to-back" and continuous away games.

Ranking rules

Teams are ranked from high to low in the regular season according to winning percentage. When teams have the same records, they need to consider the situation separately.

In the first case, when the gap between the two teams is the same, they will be ranked according to the following criteria:

1, the record is good.

2. The champion of the division topped the list.

3. The one with the highest winning rate in the division (only applicable to two teams belonging to the same division).

4. The ones with high winning percentage rank high in their respective leagues.

5. The top eight teams in the league have the highest winning percentage.

6. The top eight teams in another league have the highest winning rate.

7. The ones with high gains and losses rank first.

8. Draw lots to decide.

In the second case, when the difference between the victories of three or more teams is the same, they will be ranked according to the following criteria:

1, the division champion is in the front.

2. The teams are the best among each other.

3. The one with the highest winning rate in the division (only applicable to two teams belonging to the same division).

3. The ones with high winning percentage rank high in their respective leagues.

4. The top eight teams in the league have the highest winning percentage.

The top eight teams in another league have the highest winning rate.

6. Those with high gain and loss scores rank first.

7. Draw lots to decide.

Three new rules:

Since the 2006-2007 season, there is no need to worry about meeting the two best teams in the NBA regular season in the playoffs. This is one of the three rules revised by the NBA board of directors on August 2, 2006. The other two items are to increase the player names of the teams participating in the playoffs and shorten the timeout.

In the first two seasons, the team that ranked first in the regular season division of the Eastern and Western leagues entered the playoffs as seeds. As a result, the two best teams in the West, the Spurs and the Mavericks, which were still in the Southwest Division last season, met prematurely in the semi-finals of the playoffs.

Starting from next season, the four seed teams in the East-West League in the playoffs, that is, the first place in each division and the second place with the best performance in the regular season, will arrange their seeds in the order of performance. Doing so can obviously avoid the unreasonable situation that the Spurs and Mavericks encountered as early as last season's league finals.

The player list of each team in the playoffs will be increased from the original 13 to 15. But the number of people who can play in each game is still 12. This change will give the team more space to use players in the playoffs than in the regular season.

The rule change about time-out is that if any team still has two 60-second time-outs in the last 2 minutes before the end of the game, the time-out of 1 will be shortened from 60 seconds to 20 seconds. In addition, any team will have two 60-second and 1 20-second timeouts in overtime, instead of the last three 60-second timeouts.
