The way excel copies cells does not change the border size and all formats.

You can optionally paste the value. Take the following figure as an example, copy the value of C2 cell to A 1 cell.

Step 1 Select cell C 1 and press Ctrl+C to copy (you can also select Copy in the right-click shortcut menu).

Step 2 Right-click the cell A 1 and select the Value button in the shortcut menu (the button that displays "123"), as shown in the following figure.

The result is as follows: only the text content is copied to A 1, and other formats such as font, font size, font color, fill color and border are not copied to A 1.

Select Paste Special in step 2 to open the Paste Special dialog box, where you can select more paste options, as shown below. In this example, you should select Numeric in Paste and None in Action.
