LCK, LPL, LEC and LCS are the main competition areas of LOL World Championship, and the four teams with the highest points can directly advance to the World Championship and obtain certain first seed qualification. Other divisions need to participate in regional qualifiers and qualifiers to compete for places.
The points mainly come from the competition results of the whole year and the bonuses of various events. For example, LPL has three seasons in 2023, and each season has a regular season and a playoffs. The team's achievements and bonuses will be converted into corresponding rankings according to the points obtained.
In addition, there are global finals and other events that will also bring points to the participating teams. The higher the ranking, the more places and priorities the team will get. In addition to the division points ranking, there are also global qualifiers and field qualifiers for the World Cup.
LOL world championship system
League of Legends global finals are divided into three stages: final, group stage and elimination stage. Four teams entered the group stage in the final, eight teams entered the knockout stage from the 12 seed team, and 16 team advanced from the four final teams. The elimination tournament adopts the single elimination system of best of five games, and the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals are held in turn.
The shortlisted 10 teams were divided into two groups by drawing lots, with 5 teams in each group. The group matches are ranked in a single match (BO 1), and the teams ranked first in the two groups directly advance to the group matches automatically. Then the two teams ranked third and fourth will play a game of best of five games (BO5). The winner will challenge the other team ranked second, and the final winner will advance to the group stage.
The group match 16 teams were divided into four groups by lottery, with 4 teams in each group. Each team in the group needs to play two games with other teams in the same group, and finally the top two in each group will advance to the knockout stage.
In the knockout stage, eight teams adopted the single knockout system of best of five games (BO5), followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals, and finally decided the champion.
