Xue Pinggui is a fictional character in China's folk stories. Wu Jiapo, a Peking Opera in China's traditional opera, tells the story of Xue Pinggui and Wang Baochuan, but in real history, there is no real Xue Pinggui. The story tells that a poor family accidentally received a hydrangea from Miss Wang, the prime minister. This Wang Baochuan, regardless of his family's opposition, will marry Xue Pinggui even if he breaks up with his father. However, the ending is not perfect. Later, Xue Pinggui went out to fight in the military camp for eighteen years, and when Xue Pinggui came back, he was already the son-in-law of Xiliang. Although Wang Baochuan was later made a queen, he died only after 18 days, so his evaluation is not too high.
Xue was a famous soldier in the early Tang Dynasty and the right-hand man of Emperor Taizong and Li Zhi. When Xue was a child, his family was extremely poor and his position was very humble. Encouraged by his wife Liu, he resolutely joined the military camp to serve the motherland. Li Shimin attacked Koguryo and became famous in World War I. Li Shimin thought he was a rare general, so he was named a corps commander and let him guard Miyagi. Later, he fought in Tubo, Turkic and other countries and returned home in triumph, becoming an outstanding general in the early Tang Dynasty.
So although their names are similar to Xue's, it is obvious that they are not the same person. Their experiences are different. Although their stories are also performed on the opera stage, people familiar with history can tell who is and who is Xue at a glance. I believe everyone must know the difference between them through this article.
