Huayao people have language but no words, and the expression of body language has become a necessity for their lives. They can sing and dance well and live on the hillside all the year round. Influenced by the environment and customs handed down from generation to generation, Huayao people have formed a hard-working, brave, simple and free-spirited character, and also formed a unique Huayao dance style and rhythm. Each dance rhythm contains specific cultural connotations and regional characteristics. This paper analyzes the types of flower waist dance in the southwest of Hunan, combs the rhythm of flower waist dance, and discusses the causes and cultural connotation of this rhythm.

Introduction:

"Weaving veneers, dyeing grass and wearing five-color clothes" recorded in Custom Yi Tong shows the diligence and wisdom of Huayao people. The author grew up in Longhui, focusing on the study of the stage works of the flower waist dance in southwest Hunan, hoping to systematically study the origin, rhythm, shape, characteristics and stage works of the flower waist dance in southwest Hunan. In the process of investigation and research, the author found that due to the lack of professional collation and research, compared with Huayao folk songs and costumes, it is almost difficult to find research results for reference. For this reason, the homogenization phenomenon of flower waist dance works appearing in front of the public is serious, and the dynamic rhythm characteristics are vague. It should be said that it is urgent to study the ontology of flower waist dance in southwest Hunan. As a graduate student majoring in choreography, the author feels a great responsibility. Therefore, this paper intends to make a preliminary discussion on the dynamic law of flower waist dance in southwest Hunan.

First, the flower waist dance in southwest Hunan and its basic types

Huayao is a branch of Yao nationality in the hinterland of southwest Hunan, mainly distributed in Huxingshan Yao township, Longhui County, at the junction of Longhui and Xupu counties in Hunan Province. Because it is located in the alpine region and lives by the mountain, its unique geographical location and unique history and culture have given birth to its unique national dance rhythm. Flower waist dance is mainly based on folk customs and life production movements, which shows the simple and generous personality characteristics of flower waist people.

Through combing the relevant literature and field investigation, we can find that the flower waist dance in southwest Hunan can be roughly divided into the following three categories: one is the dance related to the traditional skill of flower waist dance "picking flowers", the other is the dance related to holiday customs, and the third is the dance mainly praising "waist mountain"

(A) Dance related to Huayao's traditional skill of "picking flowers"

Huayao is called "Huayao" because of its unique costumes and bright colors, especially the exquisite skills of Huayao women in picking flowers. Picking flowers is a unique traditional handicraft skill of Huayao girl, and it is also a compulsory course for Huayao girl all her life. There are rumors among the people that women who can't pick flowers can't get married. This shows the special position of flower picking in the hearts of Huayao people.

Huayao girls are proud of Huayao costumes, such as skirts, leg straps, trouser legs, belts, sleeves, jackets, headscarves, suspenders and aprons. All of them were chosen by Huayao girl herself. Flower picking, mainly through her unique imagination, combined with the sewing skills handed down by her ancestors, picked out beautiful patterns of different shapes on the black skirt. Patterns can be flowers, birds, fish, insects, clear water, blue sky, beasts and so on. Flower waist picking has a long history. For Huayao people who have no words but only language to record their history, Huayao flower-picking skirt is written in its unique way. A history book worn on the body, with complex and simple patterns and symmetrical left and right, reflects strong national characteristics and local flavor.

Dance dramas related to Huayao's traditional skill of "picking flowers" include "Huayao Girl" and "Huayao Hat", among which the typical movements are mainly hand movements, such as threading needles, looping hands, pulling wires and so on. Huayao's choice of flowers is not only design, but also the inner yearning of Huayao girls and the pursuit of a happy life by Huayao people. The 12th China Dance "Lotus Award" national and folk dance work "Flower Waist Girl" fully excavated and used the traditional flower picking skills and the theme of "Daughter Box". The work takes "short" and "trembling" as the elements of dance creation and development, which shows the passionate and hardworking character of the flower waist girl and her yearning and pursuit for a better life.

In Huayao's unique "Begging the Bride" Festival, the dance "Picking Flowers" is a must. Huayao people show their national costumes and their national cultural self-confidence and national self-confidence through dancing.

(2) Dance related to festival customs

The characteristic festivals of all ethnic groups in China represent their respective cultural connotations and spiritual beliefs. Huayao, with a long history and culture, also has its own unique national festivals. Although Huayao is a branch of Yao nationality, it is different from other branches of Yao nationality. They are just the traditional Wang Pan Festival of the Yao nationality, and only recognize three traditional festivals unique to their own nation, namely, one "begging for funeral" and two "begging for conversion". On the day of the festival, Huayao men and women will put on the most grand Huayao costumes and rush to Huxingshan Yao Township from all directions to attend the grand event. During the day, they will go to the market and watch plays at the meeting place. At night, every household will sing and dance around the bonfire, which is very lively. The original dance Happy Courtship, with the theme of Huayao Courtship Festival, is a classic masterpiece reflecting the rich customs of Huayao Festival, showing the scenes of men and women singing and dancing in the festival.

Huayao's wedding customs are also very special. The trilogy of Huayao Marriage Custom is divided into Mud Beating, Shell Frying and Deep Beating. The traditional folk dance "Tao Tao" was created by using the interesting custom element of Huayao's wedding custom "Tao Tao". "Tao Tao", also known as "webbed buttocks", is an entertainment way to celebrate Huayao's wedding. On the wedding night, in order to kill the long night, the guests who bid farewell to their loved ones sat in a row by the bonfire, and a group of Huayao girls sang songs and stepped on the legs of the sitting men in turn with their bottoms. A girl likes a man if she stumbles heavily on his thigh or stumbles for a long time. Three or two girls can kick a man's thigh in turn. The heavier the kick, the heavier the weight of this man in the girl's heart.

(3) Dance mainly praising "Yaoshan"

Huayao people have lived in the mountains for a long time, and they have lived with the mountains all their lives. In Huayao people's minds, mountains are where people are, and mountains are like feeding, tolerating and raising mothers. Their feelings for the mountain are higher than the sky and deeper than the water, so the hardworking and intelligent Huayao people have created many dances related to "Yaoshan", such as the stage dance works "Yaoshan Love", "Yaoshan Moonlight" and "Yaoshan Bamboo Charm" created by the author through collecting wind. Although these dances describe the scenery or charm of Yaoshan Mountain, they show the hope and right of Huayao people to the mountain.

Second, the basic rhythm of flower waist dance in southwest Hunan

Dance rhythm is an extremely important part in the formation of dance style. The traditional dance rhythm of Yao nationality is mainly long drum dance. However, due to the influence of the nation's own regional conditions and production methods, Huayao Dance did not use the conventional Yao traditional dance rhythm. After visiting Huayao ancient village many times, the author found and sorted out the following Huayao dance rhythms:

(A) the dynamic law of "vibration" up and down

The rhythm of "trembling" up and down is mainly reflected in the pace of flower waist dance, that is, the dancer's knees tremble up and down when walking. In the stage performance, the dancer's upper body leans back slightly, her feet move outward and her whole feet move backward. When retreating, the knees bend slightly, and the knees bend and stretch up and down with the change of footsteps, and the dancer's knees keep elastic and trembling at any time. In the dance "Happy"

(2) Hip swing method

Hip movement is one of the movements with unique national charm and style in flower waist dance. The hip swing method mainly refers to the dancer's hips swinging left and right according to the priority of music rhythm, which can be swinging when marching, swinging when dancing in situ, or swinging at different rhythms and amplitudes according to the requirements of dance structure. The rhythm of "squatting" mainly refers to the dancer's hip strength, sitting on the webbed and then standing up when dancing. When squatting, the knees bend and stretch, and the thighs and calves are 90 degrees. The traditional folk dance "Big Peach" of Huayao is created through the development of the rhythm of squatting, which vividly shows the passionate personality of Huayao people and also shows Huayao's unique "Big Peach" custom.

One of the reasons for the formation of the ass-lifting method comes from the special design of its clothing. Whenever Huayao girl's crotch swings from side to side, the tassels hanging behind her hips will dance with it. This will make the playful and lovely image of Huayao girl more vivid and interesting.

The dynamic law of "squatting" originates from Huayao's custom of "hitting deep", also called "kicking ass", which is a unique wedding custom of Huayao people. For Huayao, a matriarchal clan, the national consciousness has the most gratifying tolerance and understanding of women's every move, and "kicking ass" is also the best way for women to pursue men and express their wishes in festivals.

In a word, the flower waist dance shows the style characteristics and the pursuit of faith of the flower waist people. Except for the rhythm of "trembling up and down", "swinging hips" and "kicking ass" mentioned by the author in the article, the traditional folk dance rhythm of Huayao has not been completely sorted out. However, with the attention and continuous research of other scholars and relevant government departments, I believe that the development of flower waist dance will get better and better. In the new media era, the flower waist dance will be better protected, and its inheritance and development will be realized.
