In Taoist temples, people can often see Taoist priests wearing vestments and robes of different shapes and colors, holding various musical instruments, singing ancient tunes and fighting on the altar. This is a ritual vessel for Taoist fasting, commonly known as "Dojo", or "teaching according to rules" or "science and education" for short, that is, ceremony.
The original meaning of fasting refers to harmony and purity, followed by fasting and purity. It means that you must bathe and change clothes before the sacrifice, do not eat meat or drink, and do not sleep in the house to show the sincerity of the sacrifice. The so-called "fasting" is initially "accumulating virtue to relieve embarrassment", then "keeping life and spirit", and then "specializing in Taoism", "enjoying Taoism" and "uniting Taoism", that is, "cultivating Taoism".
This is the highest state of fasting. Therefore, Taoism attaches importance to fasting and has formulated a set of fasting methods. According to its scale and function, it can be divided into: Inner Zhai (extreme Dao): including heart Zhai, sitting and forgetting, thinking, etc. (see acupoint nerve); Waizhai (Du Ji): It includes three categories and seven products, and the three categories refer to gold, jade and yellow.
The seven categories refer to Huang San Zhai, Nature Zhai, Shangqing Zhai, Jiao Jiao Zhai, Tutan Zhai, Mingzhen Zhai and Sanyuan Zhai (see The Great Justice and Lingbao of the Xuanmen in the Cave). Various fasting methods have different meanings, such as Jin Zuozhai's "eliminating disasters and protecting the emperor of the town", Yu Zuozhai's "saving the people, please thank them" and Huang Zuozhai's "pulling out the nine secluded places in the underworld" and so on.
The original intention of ritual is sacrifice, which is an ancient etiquette. Shuowen said: one is to marry the crown, and the other is to sacrifice. Taoism inherited and developed Li's sacrificial aspect, and in this way, it produced a sense of intersection with the gods.
There is also a "ritual method", which refers to the procedure and etiquette of fasting ceremony. There are many names of "Yi", and there will be corresponding Jianyi names when the world needs them, such as praying for rain in Kowloon, passing by Zhengyi and Luo Tianda.
The method of fasting is different from the method of fasting, and then they merged with each other. After the Sui and Tang Dynasties, "fasting" has been collectively referred to and spread to this day, becoming synonymous with Taoist utensils. "fasting ceremony" refers to some laws and regulations on which prayer activities are based. Generally, there are yin and yang, that is, there are clear and quiet points.
