The most famous building in this temple is the main building of Qingshouyan, which has only one wall and the other three sides are supported by cave stone walls, which is very rare in domestic temple buildings. This kind of cave temple is generally small in China, and some rocks look unstable and easy to collapse due to geological reasons, but the cliff temple in Qingshouyan is an exception.
The whole cave is very big. It looks as wide as three houses. From the outside, it looks like a complete hall, but from the inside, it only has an uncapped outer wall. There are many irregular holes in the rock, which is very special. Hundreds of millions of years ago, this used to be the sea of Wang Yang, and nothing has changed.
There are three Buddha statues in the main hall. Every day, monks play wooden fish and chant Buddhist scriptures in the main hall. Next to Qingshouyan is Guanyin Hall, which is similar in architectural style to Qingshouyan, with only one outer wall and the other three sides in the cave. On the edge of Qingshou Rock, there is a geographical introduction about the honeycomb cave. Because the cliff temple is built on the mountain, some buildings are built in caves on the cliff.
Sometimes the narrowest part of the road in the temple can only be crossed by one person. Walking on this path that only allows 1 people to pass, you can see a natural stone gate. After passing through the stone gate, only one person can walk along the zigzag road. There is a big hole, in which 500 arhats are enshrined, which are different in shape and lifelike. Every arhat has a red rope tied around his neck. It is said that everyone can find an arhat similar to himself here.
There is a local saying that the predecessor of 500 arhats is said to be 500 bats, and there is another saying that these 500 arhats are 500 disciples who listened to Buddha with Sakyamuni. In any Buddhist scriptures, no records related to these 500 arhats have been found, and only a few words have been circulated in the world. The railing of 500 Luohan Cave was built by a soaring dragon. Looking into the valley through the gap of the dragon, there is a lake below, and you can see a huge "Buddha" shining. It is worth noting that if you want to shoot 500 arhats, you need to get the consent of the monks in the temple.
There is a huge word "Buddha" diagonally opposite Qingshouyan, which is located on a mountain shaped like a Buddha statue in the southeast of Yungai Peak, the main peak of focal power. Written by Zhao Puchu, the former president of the Buddhist Association, it is considered to be the largest single Buddha character in the world and enjoys the reputation of "Mountain is Buddha, Buddha is mountain". If you like minority scenic spots and come to Yulin, Guangxi, you might as well go to Qingshou Rock Cliff Temple in Jiaodu to experience the magical wisdom of the ancients.
