FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Football Stadium

Qatar has prepared eight stadiums for the World Cup, namely: Lourseyre Stadium, Gulf Stadium, Education City Stadium, Ahmed Ben Ali Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Atumama Stadium, 974 Stadium and Yanubu Stadium.

Lourseyre stadium

The design of Lourseyre Stadium, the final venue of the World Cup, was inspired by the interlaced patterns of light and shadow of traditional Arab lanterns, and many advanced technologies were applied in the construction process. Lourseyre Stadium can accommodate 80,000 people. During the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, it hosted ten games, making it the stadium that hosted the most games during the World Cup. In addition to six group matches, Lourseyre Stadium will also host 1/8 finals, 1/4 finals, semi-finals and finals.

Khalifa International Stadium

Khalifa International Stadium, built in 1976, is the oldest football stadium in Qatar and was renovated during the 2006 Asian Games. Qatar has hosted the Asian Games, the AFC Asian Cup, the World Athletics Championships and the World Club Cup, and is also the home of Qatar's national football team. The 20 17 Khalifa International Stadium was rebuilt and reopened, which can accommodate more than 40,000 spectators. During the World Cup, Khalifa Stadium will host six group matches, one 16 final match and one third place match.

Atumama stadium

The design of Atumama Stadium is inspired by the knitted soft hats worn by men in the Middle East, which presents the culture and traditions of the Arab region. Atumama Stadium can accommodate 40,000 spectators. During the World Cup, there will be six group matches, a quarter-final and a quarter-final. After the World Cup, the grandstand of the stadium will be transformed into a boutique hotel.

Haiwan Stadium

The design of the Gulf Stadium is inspired by the traditional tents used by nomadic people in the Gulf region, and the ceiling can be opened and closed. Seats on the upper floor of the Gulf Stadium will be removed after FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in 2022 and donated to developing countries that need sports infrastructure. This stadium with a seating capacity of 60,000 spectators is the venue for the opening ceremony of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in 2022. During the World Cup, the Gulf Stadium will host six group matches, a 16 final, a quarter-final and a semi-final.

Education city stadium

The Education City Stadium in Doha University Town was completed and opened in 2020, and once hosted the Qatar World Club Cup competition in 2020. It can accommodate 40,000 spectators, and will host 6 group matches, 1/8 finals and 1/4 finals.

From the appearance, the design of the Education City Stadium combines the traditional Islamic architectural style and modern elements. The diamond pattern composed of many triangles will change color with different angles of sunlight, so it is called "diamond in the desert".

Yanubu Stadium

Janub Stadium, 23km away from downtown Doha, opened on May 19 and May16, with a capacity of 40,000 spectators. The design of Yanubu Stadium was inspired by the sail of Qatar dhow, which was once an important pillar of Qatar's economic development. A vast green space is being developed around Janubu Stadium, and space such as riding track, running track and bicycle lane, as well as multifunctional indoor arena will be built.

974 stadium

974 Stadium is the first stadium in the history of FIFA World Cup that can be completely dismantled. It consists of 974 containers, which is the same as the international telephone area code of Qatar. The stadium is made of modular "building blocks" such as containers and movable seats, and its innovative design of round stadium seats will realize natural ventilation without air conditioning. During the World Cup, the 974 Stadium will host six group matches and 1 match1match.

Ahmed bin Ali Stadium

There is an old stadium in the original site of this stadium, and 90% of its materials are recycled to build this new stadium. The brand-new Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium was put into use on February 8, 2020, with a capacity of 40,000 spectators. It is located on the edge of the desert and is called the "desert gate". During the World Cup, Ahmed Ben Ali Stadium will host six group matches and 1 Round 16 Top Match. After the World Cup, the stadium will become the home of Laiyang Football Club.
