Historical background of Guangji Temple

Guangji Temple was founded in 628 AD, and was in Zhenguan for two years in the Tang Dynasty. After continuous development and expansion, Guangji Temple entered its heyday in the Song Dynasty, with a vast area and many pilgrims. At that time, Hongdong relied on the ancient post road, connected to Youyan in the north, Qilu in the east, Qin Shu in the south and Dragon in the west. In addition, the courtyard of Guangji Temple is wide, which is convenient for the government to set up bureaus, gather immigrants and distribute photos of Sichuan capital. Therefore, in the early years of the Ming Dynasty, the court chose Guangji Temple as a concentrated place, which was clearly recorded in Hongtong County Records.
