Does Guanyin really have no gender?

The Diamond Sutra: See the Tathagata when you see something different.

Pumenpin: Avalokitesvara, whose achievements are like merits, traveled all over the country in various forms to free all sentient beings.

All buddhas and bodhisattvas are faceless, regardless of gender, and show different incarnations with their fate. Bodhisattva is what she should be.

Avalokitesvara statues before the Tang Dynasty were all male, retaining the characteristics of Indian Buddhism.

After the Tang Dynasty, Guanyin statues were mostly women, because Buddhism was localized in China after the Tang Dynasty. China people think that women are gentle and kind, which conforms to the image of Guanyin. Therefore, Guanyin presented a female image in the Han Dynasty in China, including Guanyin in white, Guanyin in sending a son, Guanyin riding a dragon, Guanyin in horsehead, Guanyin in lion's head and so on.

In Shaolin Temple, there is a statue of Guanyin, which is unique. It has a big nose with big eyes, a wide mouth and forehead, loose hair, especially big ears, a pair of thick and big gold rings, shoulders hanging down, and the creases of clothes are messy. It has bare feet and a Huang Jinbao cane in its hand. Much like the maharaja in the five hundred arhats, no one will be a layman.

But Shaolin Temple clearly put him in Guanyin Pavilion, and the monks also thought it was Guanyin Bodhisattva. Isn't that weird? There is also a cause in the middle.

Shaolin Temple has always been famous for its martial arts, not only because of the long-distance spread of Zen, but also because of its early ancestor, Zen Master Dharma. But when it was first built, there was no Guanyin Pavilion. Until the Yuan Dynasty, the Red Army made an insurrection and the war disaster spread to Zhongzhou. Li Quan, the leader of the Red Army, knows the martial arts of Shaolin Temple like the back of his hand and wants to recruit monks in the temple for his own use. When the monks of Shaolin Temple strictly observed the precepts, deeply understood the righteousness, and refused to obey them, Li Quan became angry from embarrassment and led a crowd to besiege Shaoshi Mountain, claiming that he would not stop until Shaolin Temple was destroyed.

At that time, although Shaolin monks were skilled in martial arts, they were outnumbered and invincible. They tried their best to defend themselves and gradually got tired. At the critical moment, a headstrong monk suddenly appeared out of nowhere, holding an iron bar and grabbing at the Red Army. When people look at it, it's the new monk who hangs up the bill.

When his staff was raised, it was like a flurry and cold light, killing thieves and horses. Even Li Quan, the iron gun headed by him, was defeated and took away many people. They only felt that the wayward monk disappeared with a flash of golden light. I looked around and saw him standing on the royal village of Songshan, revealing his six dharma bodies, claiming to be one of Guanyin incarnations-King Jinnaluo, who had come to free Eritrea.

Since then, Shaolin Temple has changed its face, shaped its image and built Guanyin Pavilion to support it. This incident is clearly recorded in the log of Shaolin Temple, not fiction.
