Lushan Temple was founded in the fourth year of Taishi in the Western Jin Dynasty (268). Formerly known as "Huiguang Temple", it was built by Zhu Fachong. Since then, there have been Buddhist temples in Hunan, so it is called "the first scene in Han and Wei Dynasties, the first scene in Hunan". ? In the early Tang Dynasty, it was renamed "Lushan Temple". Tang Wuzong Huichang destroyed the Buddha in the fifth year (845), and all the halls of Lushan Temple were destroyed. In the first year of Emperor Xuanzong's reign in the Tang Dynasty (847), Zen Master Jingcen rebuilt the old site and renamed it "Luyuan".
During the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, Lushan Temple was abandoned and revived. During the Wanli period in Ming Shenzong, Miaoguang rebuilt the Hall of the Great Hero, Guanyin Pavilion, Wanfo Hall and the Tibetan Scripture Building in the former site of Qingfeng Gorge Temple, and renamed it "Manjuji". In the Qing Dynasty, under the auspices of Tan Zhi and satellites, several overhauls were carried out. In the early years of the Republic of China, it was renamed "Gulushan Temple".
