Specifically, there are usually two restrictions on the protection of the right to choose in the draft. The first is "draft protection", that is, only within a certain draft range will the draft right be transferred to another team. For example, if a team transfers its future first-round draft pick to another team, and the draft pick is protected by the "top five draft picks", then only when this team wins the top five draft picks will the draft pick be transferred to another team.
The second restriction is "time protection", that is, this draft can not be transferred to other teams for a certain period of time. For example, if a team transfers its future first-round draft pick to another team, and this draft pick is protected in 2025, then this draft pick will not be available before 2025.
