The School of Physical Science and Nuclear Energy Engineering of Beihang University consists of four administrative institutions, namely, the Department of Physics, the Department of Applied Physics, the Department of Nuclear Science and Technology, and the Physics Teaching and Experiment Center, as well as a number of scientific research platforms, such as the National Aerospace Physics International Science and Technology Cooperation Base and the Key Laboratory of Micro-nano Measurement and Control and Low-dimensional Physics of the Ministry of Education. The college undertakes the construction of two first-class disciplines: physics, nuclear science and technology.
In 2005, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as the 985 scientific and technological innovation platform of "Complex System and Spatial Material Structure", and in 2008, the college was approved by the Ministry of Education to build the key laboratory of "Micro-nano Measurement and Control and Low-dimensional Physics".
The college has trained and delivered a large number of outstanding graduates with solid scientific foundation and good quality for the country. Since 20 13, the college has set up "Einstein" experimental class to train outstanding scholars in physics and related fields and outstanding talents with leading potential.
Undergraduate enrollment majors are: physics, applied physics and nuclear physics. Doctoral/master's programs include: theoretical physics, particle physics and nuclear physics, condensed matter physics, optics, radio physics, material physics and chemistry, and medical physics.
Among them, optics/radio physics is a discipline with national defense characteristics, and medical physics is the first doctoral program in medical physics in China. The college plans to recruit 30 doctoral students and 60 master students every year.
