It's well written and worth learning from. It takes patience to find a job, and so does reading this article, hehe!

After being brave-my road to job hunting
A two-month job-hunting trip is like a gorgeous and tortuous adventure. There was only an empty bag when I first started on the road. Now I stop and look back, leaving behind thinking, confidence, growth, pressure, challenges and prospects for the new journey.
For me, the experience of finding a job in these two months is more like a process of knowing myself. In order to better answer the interviewer's questions, you should dig your own story carefully; Facing the choice of offer, you should be clear about your interests, specialties and expectations. Communication with the interviewer, communication with the interviewer, communication with others, their reaction, evaluation and feedback are all good mirrors to know yourself.
There are basically more than 20 job seekers, including investment banks, consulting and industry. In addition to giving up, there is an offer of 10. Looking back now, there is a very interesting story behind every offer. And the whole job-hunting process is like a movie, everything happens so reasonably and everything happens so unexpectedly.
Record some feelings about job hunting, share them with everyone, and also record yourself. Savor it later.
Job hunting strategy: be different and be yourself.
(1) Work preparation:
First, there is a Buddha in my heart:
Finding a job is a long process for most people, and they may face some pressure and suffer some setbacks. Faced with these pressures and setbacks, maintaining a good state requires certain emotional intelligence and willpower. Finding things or behaviors that can inspire you can effectively safeguard your belief that you will win. Children often have to hold their beloved dolls to sleep. It is the same for some people to convey depressed emotions by shouting. We can shield the negative impact of the environment through psychological self-transfer. With such a shield, we will be much stronger.
My personal adjustment is through a movie "Pursuing Happiness", which is highly recommended to all job seekers. The hero's courage and strategy to overcome difficulties, his passion and persistence in work, and his attitude towards life all deeply inspired me to sing. His attitude and way of answering in the interview are good teaching materials for friends looking for a job. I've watched this movie no less than five times, and the image of the protagonist is almost engraved on myself. In the movie, every time the protagonist's fate is about to turn, there must be a scene running in the street as a sign. So in reality, before every interview, I will run for a while and keep telling myself "the pursuit of happiness". Then the whole person will be particularly excited and the interview status will come out. So there is a transfer carrier, which can transfer negative emotions and stimulate yourself. It will be much easier on the way forward.
Second, take precautions.
Job preparation is a long-term process, and it is impossible to wait until the recruitment of the company begins. Resume and cover letter should basically be prepared one month in advance. Many job seekers have talked about writing resumes, so I won't go into details here. But one thing to emphasize is that every word on your resume is well thought out and cannot be changed too much. My resume has been changed to eight editions, and basically every edition has its structure and content adjusted.
A detail problem, many people ignored the paper problem of resumes, went to the copy shop in the North District, found the cheapest one to print out and left. Different! My resumes are all in 120g. Paper feels better and has stronger brightness. Imagine that the interviewer has a stack of resumes in his hand. Your resume feels better and it is also a kind of competitiveness, which will at least attract him to read more books.
Interview skills need to be practiced in advance.
Students who are interested in consulting must practice the case interview in advance. As the consultant at Bain's presentation said, practice, practice and practice again. I have a mock interview with friends who are interested in consulting one and a half months in advance. Once every two days.
For an ordinary interview, I strongly recommend that you practice your expression in front of the mirror. If you have the ability to find your own shortcomings, record them. Give a profound personal example. I personally served as the president of the student union and participated in the live shooting of CCTV's Absolute Challenge. I think I have accumulated some experience in interpersonal communication and public speaking, and I am confident in my performance in the interview. When I was communicating with CSUF University in the United States this summer, I applied for simulated interview counseling at CSUF University Employment Counseling Center, considering my interview after returning to China, mainly in English, and wanted to try water first. After I went there, I found that the so-called counseling service is a man-machine dialogue system, and your performance will be recorded by the camera. The local tutor said that I was the first student to apply since the system went online. Face it when you come. Dressed in a formal suit, I simulated myself in front of the camera. I thought my answer felt good, but I was blindsided after watching the video playback. Dry smile, occasionally tilted shoulders, wandering eyes, improper gestures … When I played back the video for 7 or 8 times, I felt that every deficiency seemed to be infinitely magnified and dazzling. I almost lost confidence in myself, thinking how ugly it is … please believe me, a person's performance in an interview may be very different from peacetime. Many involuntary performances or small moves will definitely affect the overall performance of the interview. It is because of this experience that I began to correct my little actions in a targeted manner. This process is extremely painful but also very worthwhile.
(2) Job hunting
After preparing for the interview, let's share some feelings about the specific process of job hunting:
I. Online application:
1, open questions are very important. Basically, once you apply online and do the open questions of each family, the interview story library will come out. And the friends who apply for the job also know that it is very important to tell your story well during the interview. Therefore, for every new open-ended question I encounter, I will carefully think about what this question is asking, what is the connection between this question and the culture of the company and the needs of the position I am applying for, and then give a targeted answer. At first, an open question may be thought for an hour or two, and then after 10, many companies' open questions can be directly applied with fine tuning.
2. Some companies will contact schools or colleges to recommend students first, and then let students apply online. At this point, the recommended students should not be too happy. First, this recommendation only ensures that you can jump out of the audition, and the follow-up depends on yourself; Second, this recommendation may also be just a cover. This year, a world-famous oil company came to the hospital to recommend students, saying that it would guarantee a written test opportunity, and I was recommended. HR of the other company also called to urge me to apply online quickly. Results In the end, 1 1 students of different majors recommended by the hospital all had no written test opportunities, so everyone was waiting for an empty test. When I called, HR didn't even say sorry. Therefore, even multinational well-known enterprises have their own shortcomings, so they should make their own preparations.
Second, SHL:
1. This year, many companies have adopted SHL as the content of the online exam, and some companies have written SH.
L such as UBS, Standard Chartered Bank, Hong Kong Metro, Mars, KPMG, Bank of Communications MT, etc. Often many people are screened out in this round. Aside from the ability, this kind of exam failed because of being unfamiliar with the topic, which is really a bit of a loss, and the problem bank of shl official website is really too difficult. The first SHL I came into contact with was UBS's, and my friend was doing it when I watched it. I was just confused and didn't have enough time. So when I was doing SHL topics in a company, I photographed every topic with a digital camera, and then carefully analyzed it and asked the SHL experts around me. In this way, once you are familiar with the questions, you will master the methods, and then you will pass all the SHL. Later, I shared this set of real questions with my classmates, and everyone benefited a lot. First, this set of questions is difficult, and second, the repetition rate of SHL real questions is very high every year.
Third, the electric surface:
This year, two well-known multinational companies stood me up, that is to say, they sent me an email to inform me of the call, and the call kept coming. Put aside the integrity and corporate governance of the company. If you find that the electric plane has not come, you must contact HR as soon as possible. Otherwise, they will lose the most.
Fourth, the interview:
The interview is a part that I enjoy very much. I participated in several group meetings of 10+, covering case studies and group debates.
There is no leadership discussion, group report, except sh.
Everything passed except ell's rejection. Three interviewers told me that my group was the one with the largest number of people.
Group, and I am basically the leader or organizer of these three group meetings. Basically, laughter appeared in all the groups I participated in, and many students in the group became friends with me. In the second round of head office face-to-face, in the last link, 17 students chose 1 1, and I recommended them who should enter the finals.
About the group: be yourself+be different+work as a team!
1. Be yourself! Generally speaking, there are the first leader, the second leader, the coordinator, the follower, the timekeeper, the recorder and the summarizer. It is true that some characters will jump out more easily. But I personally suggest that it is best to be true to yourself when meeting in groups, and playing a role that you don't usually experience will be very risky. I have met several interviewed students, who obviously have no leadership temperament and have to build a framework; Obviously, the deficiency of inductive ability must be summarized; Knowing that my English level is not good, I have to be the last speaker of English. Finally, I magnified my own shortcomings and affected the performance of the whole team.
I personally basically play the role of a leader. This is also based on personal character and personal ability. Being a leader is also strategic. During the whole group meeting, I basically served as the group leader in the early stage and the group leader in the later stage. Everyone wants to speak in the early stage, and there may be some very aggressive people. I need a space for everyone to release their energy first. In the meantime, I will actively cooperate and seriously think about your speeches.
On the one hand, we have a judgment on everyone's level, on the other hand, we can stimulate our own thinking through everyone's opinions. In the middle and late stage of the group meeting, I usually put forward a relatively quality speech, or a relatively scientific framework, or an effective method, or an innovative idea, or pertinent suggestions on key issues. With a good speech, everyone will follow your ideas. On this basis, I will determine my leadership role through some modes such as task division or team motivation.
There is a scientific basis for adopting such a strategy.
First of all: from the perspective of leadership: Generally speaking, in a team, there are three sources of leadership rights:
A: Institutional rights: the rights granted to you by the institution. The superior appoints you as the leader and gives you corresponding rights;
B: Expert right: the right established through one's own expert skills. Because of your professional skills, team members recognize you and follow you.
C: Charm right: one's own personality charm. In some informal organizations, leaders are often those who have the greatest personality charm and can attract people to follow them spontaneously.
In the group, if you want to be a leader, you must be a recognized leader, a leader who can guide the whole case to develop in a better direction and make the whole group perform better. The kind of behavior that a leader just wants to have more time to speak for himself, purely for performance, is actually harming others and harming himself and pretending to lead. In order to get everyone's recognition in the group, institutional rights are indispensable (the act of taking the initiative to speak and establishing a framework is an act of giving yourself institutional rights, but this institutional right will be empty if it is not supported by subsequent expert rights and charm rights). The best way to build your own leadership is to be expert, which shows that you have a good ability to control the case and make everyone believe that following your leadership can solve the case better. In reality, the charm right needs to be accumulated for a long time. A few minutes in a group is not enough, but timely humility, praise and smile can build enough charm right in a short time.
Third, from a realistic point of view, join a new team. If the team members are not familiar with you, why should you be the leader? Obviously, it depends on performance. So I won't try to be a leader from the beginning. In addition, from the company's point of view, the company recruits fresh graduates more to make you obedient than to give orders. From this perspective, the company wants to see your cooperation ability and problem-solving ability. It is risky for you to act like a leader at the beginning of a group meeting.
It can be seen that the role of leadership is not to maximize the benefits, but to be risky. So everyone should choose the right role based on their true self. I know that I am a person who likes challenges, likes to take on more responsibilities and has a strong desire for organization. In my daily life, I have served as the president of the student union, the president of the society and the head of the team, and I have certain leadership skills. Based on their own positioning, they will choose to take the leadership role only when they know that their leadership role in the group can better play their strengths. But I won't be a leader in the following situations:
A. Problem solving is the most important, and team performance is the most important. If I am not sure, I can solve this C better.
Ase, I won't be the leader.
B. Some students in the group have shown strong expert strength, so I won't be the team leader (roland berger dihedral group)
During the dinner, one of my classmates came into contact with a case similar to a group face and studied the industry in depth.
2, different
Simply put, let the interviewer remember you in the group meeting:
A, speaking for the first time is very important! Only when everyone speaks for the first time can you ensure that the interviewer is listening to you. And this first speech often determines the interviewer's impression of you. Therefore, we should fully grasp the opportunity to speak for the first time.
B, it's different! Only those who speak in their own style will be moved. Is your speech very clear? Is your speech rich in content? Did you put forward a unique argument in your speech? Did you use a very interesting event?
3, teamwork
The group meeting of the company is to test your team spirit, and also to observe whether others are willing to work with you if you are recruited into the company. Therefore, while solving problems, we should show the ability of teamwork. Teamwork involves many aspects, some of which are special.
A. joey Basically, every time we meet in the group, there will be laughter in my group (when Johnson & Johnson Marketing Department held a meeting, the interviewer said that he was impressed by our group because we were the only group meeting with laughter). Most of those laughs were because I played a kind joke or gave a humorous evaluation (in InBev Beer, we drew the layout of the whole factory, and I made an image metaphor in the process of drawing). This phenomenon often attracts the attention of interviewers. Who doesn't like a collaborator who can bring joy?
B. details. Teamwork is not ostensibly avoiding conflicts and catering to others. Teamwork means that you can really participate in the operation of the team, actively support others and respect others. In the group, did you listen carefully to other people's speeches, were you willing to help others write, paid attention to other people's conclusions instead of repeating your own speeches over and over again, and noticed those students who spoke less. Teamwork is also a service to others, so in the final analysis, do you have a strong sense of service? Teamwork must be implemented at the level of specific trips. Recognition, respect and support are the elements of teamwork. On the other hand, our generation of young people lack respect and sense of service. People who have seen Yu Shiwei's lecture should remember that when talking about the service consciousness of Disney employees, he pointed out that Disney asked employees to kneel down and talk to their children instead of standing and bending over. This is a requirement of respect, because these children are future parents! So in group meetings, sometimes we will discuss in groups. When students from other groups come to communicate with me, I must immediately get up from my chair and talk to him, instead of making him bend down to talk to me. And when I ran to communicate with other students, I must have squatted down to talk to him and told him to sit in a chair without looking up. This is all out of respect for the players. After such details are discovered by the interviewer, they will get a better evaluation (the interviewer of Deloitte Consulting gave me a corresponding positive evaluation when communicating with me privately).
Finally, emphasize two points:
1, the ball surface is definitely not a stage for one person.
2. The group meeting is ultimately to examine your problem-solving ability. The starting point of everyone's thinking should be how to better promote the team to solve problems and how to make their own more effective contributions. It is not appropriate to talk about grasping time or avoiding time blindly.
About one thing: know your own story+be prepared+be yourself.
After the interview, for me, it is more of a channel to learn about the enterprise, learn from the top management of the enterprise, and learn more about myself. In the process of job hunting, investment banks, consulting, Big Four and industries are fortunate to meet. More than five interviewers praised my performance on the spot, and I also consulted many off-site HR feedback and comments on my interview, and got many valuable third-party suggestions. Three independent salary companies gave me the highest salary of all recruiters in this company this year.
Know your story
1. You must be able to tell stories, and no one will be interested in a dry argument.
2. All stories should be familiar, and it is best to tell the same story in different ways.
3. Pay attention to the audience. When a good speaker makes a public speech, he will adjust the content and expression according to the audience's reaction. If the interviewer is obviously not interested in your story, finish it quickly.
4. Self-study. The interviewer will ask some questions about your story without telling it again. These questions are valuable first-hand information. You should think about why he asks these questions and what they mean. Some interviewer's questions will tell you that you didn't talk about this, so you should talk about it next time; Some interviewers' questions will tell you that this aspect of the story is what they are most interested in, so you can pave the way for this story next time to make the interviewers more interested. Some interviewer's questions will tell you that this story can have such an evaluation, so think about how to answer this evaluation next time.
Ready
1. Observe the interviewer.
If the interviewer holds the form, he will record your answers in detail or grade you. This kind of interview, needless to say too much nonsense, just bring out the highlights. On the one hand, the interviewer may have to ask all the prescribed questions in a limited time as required, and you are hurting yourself by talking nonsense (so my story has a 30-second version and a 90-second version); On the other hand, the interviewer will know what he wants to examine. When you talk, he will write it down. Before you talk, he will naturally ask this question. For such an interviewer, let the interviewer guide you.
If the interviewer doesn't take anything, it's talking to you. Then he is more concerned with your overall feelings. At this time, your story can be more descriptive, and you can leave some foreshadowing to guide the interviewer to ask you the most prepared questions. For such an interviewer, try to guide the interviewer. But most of these interviewers are middle and senior managers in the company, and there are often more considerations behind their questions. Therefore, local guidance is impossible. Otherwise, if you lose the initiative, you may be asked miserably.
Some students often don't understand the difference between the two types of interviewers and simply say that they feel good, but they don't know that they have lost points (I made this mistake when I met Bain). For the discussion of this part, please refer to a valuable online interview about Starwood, My Starwood Road. That classmate's exposition in this respect is quite in place)
2. Cultural differences between China and the West.
There are differences in expressions between China and westerners. When the interviewer is western, everyone should answer as simply and directly as possible. Personally, it is better to answer questions in business situations in a western way of thinking. Give the results or conclusions first, and then expand.
The interview is about chemistry. Therefore, it will be most helpful if you can talk to the employees in the company you are interviewing before the interview. Because you can get a lot of valuable information. When I was in a leading multinational company, a friend happened to work in the department I wanted to go to. That friend shared with me last year's interview experience and the styles and hobbies of several department heads. In the next interview, I happened to meet one of the supervisors. I learned that my tutor especially believes in horoscopes, so I emphasized my horoscopes and the temperament of this horoscopes when I introduced myself and answered questions. Such an answer naturally caused the supervisor to sing badly.
4. Presentation. If you have time, you'd better go to the briefing. The most valuable thing about the presentation is the opportunity to chat with the department head you want to go to. On the one hand, you can learn more about this department to facilitate the preparation for future interviews. On the one hand, make a good impression in advance. It is possible that this supervisor is one of your interviewers. I talked to a manager at the presentation of Goldman Sachs for nearly 40 minutes. The information obtained from it played a great guiding role in my later interview with Goldman Sachs. At the presentation of UBS, I was invited by a workshop of a department because of my communication with the interviewer. It was through this communication that I determined that the work content of that department was not the best match for me.
Be yourself
The later the interview, the higher the status of the interviewer and the more accurate the level of reading people. Interview is always a communication process based on mutual understanding, so I strongly recommend that you be yourself during the interview. Expressing your true thoughts and deliberately hiding them may reveal clues, not to mention how you know what you are hiding is not the most important thing to the company. On the other hand, job hunting is also a two-way choice process, and being yourself is also the basic embodiment of sincerity.
1, really. Even college students have a strong student spirit, and it will only be silly to show it deliberately. I have my own views on some sensitive issues. When the interviewer asks me, I will say it directly, especially during the countdown. Because I regard this as a good learning and consulting process. The interviewer will generally give you a feedback on your answer, which can better guide you to think better. At the end of Deloitte consulting, the interviewer asked me what I thought of long-term business trip and work-life balance time. I said directly: "I personally think that there is no reason for fresh graduates to take the balance between life and work into consideration. If you don't even make achievements in your work, there is no life lesson to consider. You have to work harder in the past few years, and then consider the balance between work and life when the work comes out. " Perhaps this answer is a bit extreme, but it is really my personal values. I won't say, "What's important in work and life? I believe that I can achieve life balance through effective time management and proper relaxation in my busy work. I believe I can adapt to these four stressful lives. " This is also a witty answer, but it is a false nonsense in my eyes.
2, true. At the end of the link, because the interviewer is often the highest level of the enterprise, their questions are even more unconstrained. On the contrary, at this time, I enjoy it and treat it as a private chat. That's who I am. Do you think you like it? High-level enterprises generally have strategic vision and unique vision, and frank communication with them is king. InBev Beer Terminal, Asia Pacific President, Global Vice President, Asia Pacific Human Resources Director, etc. Meet me at the same time, on issues ranging from golf to the president's schedule. Often several interviewers ask several questions at the same time, and I have to answer them continuously. At this time, I will speak my mind. Truth is the most beautiful. Although the final meeting of Longhu Real Estate is only 15 minutes (there are three rounds of interviews before the final meeting of Longhu Real Estate, and 2~3 interviewers interview each time, his family's recruitment process is still quite cautious.
) is one aspect that impressed me the most. It is a great pleasure to chat with Ms. Wu, the most powerful attacker of the richest woman. However, her question is quite individual. "Do you feel attractive?"
"。 . . . . . . . 。"
"What you said is not charm. I mean, are you attractive among girls? Do you think girls like you? "
"。 . . . . . . . 。"
"Give me the most romantic thing you have done chasing girls." This question is obvious, Mr. Wu.
Entrepreneurial skills)
"。 . . . . . . . 。"
"Well, give me another example, just now you mentioned,,, so what will happen to you? If,,, then
What will happen to you? What will happen to you if …? "
Isn't truth the best answer to this question? Of course, there is a choice. For example, the question about "romance" can actually reveal many aspects of a person. If you tell a narcissistic romantic story, you will be silly. If you tell a story that looks great but is actually stupid because of love, you can just leave.
3. the truth. At the end of the interview, many companies will ask me which companies I have seen and which companies offer. Generally, I will explain some relevant information to them. On the one hand, this is a form to prove personal competitiveness, on the other hand, it is also for the consideration of the company and other interview students. "Why face other companies?" I will put forward some characteristics of other companies, which will also help the company adjust its recruitment strategy. I'll tell Johnson & Johnson's terminal officer that Mars has a high salary. I think if all the interviewers can give such information back to the company, the company will definitely make corresponding adjustments. This is also a good thing that "predecessors planted trees, and future generations enjoyed the cool", and may even achieve the effect of "giving away roses and leaving lingering fragrance in their hands". The head office of China Merchants Bank finally met, and I said directly to HR, I'm sorry, I can't sign the three parties now, because I'm still waiting for the reply from other companies. HR also understood my consideration and said on the spot, well, we won't give you an offer for the time being. We put you on the waiting list and left me your contact information. Although sensitive issues like this sometimes have some negative effects, they need proper skills. But the interviewer is also a human being. "We are human beings, and we can understand you." So communicate frankly, and maybe you will get his help instead. The human resources director of a company learned that I was still waiting for the reply from other companies, agreed to postpone the signing, and wished my dream come true. When a good company decides to want you, they will try their best to keep you. On the one hand, the true answer is out of respect for the company and the interviewer, on the other hand, it is also the maintenance of the reputation of Fudan students.
Being yourself is always the first key to an interview.
