Reading many of Jin Yong's works, we all have the same experience: we can't put it down when we pick it up, and we always want to read it all at once. Sometimes we simply forget to eat and sleep, stay up all night and can't stop. His novel knows the fault of the tail without looking at the head. The plot is tortuous, undulating, progressive and unpredictable, like a spiritual magnet and an artistic maze, attracting readers with strong charm. Jin Yong neither repeats others nor himself. As far as plot design is concerned, his 15 novels don't have many similarities. This is also very valuable.
What is the secret of Jin Yong's novel plot being so fascinating?
Some people think that Jin Yong's martial arts novels are attractive because the story is particularly magical. This view is not exact. Of course, there are many magical plots in martial arts novels, but Jin Yong's story is far from the most magical. In Jin Yong's novels, there is neither the sword-fairy fighting and white light in Princess Huanzhu's works, nor the call for rain and ghosts to drive the gods in Bu Xiaosheng's works in Pingjiang. Compared with the past martial arts novels, the plots of Jin Yong's novels are much more prosaic, and the ghosts and gods are much less colorful. The most amazing thing is the "Nine Yin and White Bone Claw" practiced by the Black Wind and the Double Evil Spirit, and Ren Woxing's "star-sucking method" to absorb the internal forces of others. Obviously, Jin Yong did not apply his unusually rich artistic imagination to the plot design of birth accidents. In addition, Jin Yong's novels do not rely on clever methods such as misunderstanding to support their own plots. Like twins, they look alike, which leads to misunderstanding. Jin Yong occasionally used the Legend of the Condor Heroes as an example, and The Chivalrous Man as an example, but he never relied on this method to support the plot skeleton of his works. Jin Yong himself said in the postscript of "The Chivalrous Man": "Because the two people look alike, they have caused all kinds of misunderstandings. This ancient legend will never become a solid structure of the novel. Although Shakespeare repeatedly used the theme of twin brothers and sisters, none of those works were his best plays. In the novel "Knight", what I want to write is mainly the love of the couple for their son, so the stone is similar to the appearance, which is not the point. " It can be seen that Jin Yong does not want to take shortcuts in plot design.
So, what does Jin Yong's novels rely on to attract people and catch people? I think it depends on the boldness, richness and rationality of artistic imagination and the compactness, twists and turns and rigor of plot organization. In other words, he relies on art itself.
Jin Yong is really a master of plot design. The plot of his novel has the following advantages and characteristics:
Jump out of the mode and stick to a mode.
There is always a set of stereotyped things in general martial arts novels: the characters are divided into two categories, one is a righteous hero, full of righteousness, and the other is the embodiment of evil, sinister and kindness; The overall model is "evil does not suppress right": although the wicked have high martial arts, they will eventually be eliminated by the power of justice. Reading this kind of novel too much will make people bored. Jin Yong's novels broke through this frame. In Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain and The Legend of Flying Fox, Hu Yidao, a hero with high martial arts and indignation, has just been ambushed by a villain and lost his life on a poisonous knife for no reason. The most wicked Tian Guinong was born with a handsome appearance, which made his wife fascinated by him and eloped with him. The evil and vicious Ouyang Feng in The Legend of the Condor Heroes was not defeated by Hong Qigong, a nine-fingered beggar representing justice. On the contrary, Ji seriously injured Hong Qigong. Until the last time, the second Huashan tournament was defeated by Qigong and Huang Yong with abnormal and strange martial arts. Other important bad guys in the book, such as Ouyang Ke and Yang Kang; They were not destroyed by the power of justice, but died at the hands of the bad guys themselves-Ouyang Ke died at the hands of Yang Kang and Yang Kang died at the hands of Ouyang Feng. Guo Jing's master, the Seven Monsters in the South of the Yangtze River, is brave and chivalrous, and very decent. Instead, six out of seven people were killed by bad guys. These are the places where the aesthetic concept of the novel is not summarized. The author embeds the story in the historical background to write. Writing history has a very harsh side-it does not develop according to the good wishes of any kind person. Genghis Khan was militaristic and often brutally slaughtered the people of the whole city; He also forced Guo Jing to attack Lai Chao and forced Guo Jing's mother to commit suicide on the spot. But such a Genghis Khan does not represent justice. After all, he won and established an unprecedented Mongolian empire. And civilians like Guo Jing, despite their best efforts, can't save the overall situation. Similarly, Wan Yan Honglie is cunning and vicious, but she has been in power for a long time. All these enhance the faltering and tragedy of The Legend of the Condor Heroes and The Legend of Shen Peng Heroes, and bring tragic atmosphere to the novels.
Jin Yong pays attention to the plot mode of novels. But he studied the mode in order to jump out of the mode and bring forth the new. After all, the model is only an external ready-made form, and Jin Yong pays more attention to the inner sense of life. He said in the article Little Wei Xiaobao: "According to the analysis of western drama researchers, there are basically only 36 plots in dramas and novels. It can also be said that it is difficult to draw these 36 changes in the drama of life. However, in the past, Qian Qian wrote thousands of plays and novels, Qian Qian will still stage thousands of new plays, and Qian Qian will also publish thousands of novels. People won't get tired of the repetition of the plot. Because the characters in drama and novel are different. Of course, the way and technique of the author's performance are also different. " ②
Martial arts novels, as a kind of popular novels, have their own narrative mode. The most common modes are "revenge mode" and "treasure grab mode". The so-called "revenge mode" means that decent people are suddenly devastated, and then orphans study hard, master high-powered martial arts, find enemies, and realize their desire for revenge. It's a little tortuous, and in the process of revenge, the protagonist falls in love with the enemy's children or disciples. The so-called "treasure grabbing mode" may be wealth, a powerful weapon or a martial arts classic, or a panacea. In addition, there is a mode of "subduing demons" or "competing among the heroes": an evil force rises in the Wulin, killing decent people repeatedly, and has the potential to dominate the Jianghu. As the leader, the hero leads the heroes to win the decisive battle with the evil forces. There is also an "anti-violence model", that is, upholding justice, resisting tyranny and opposing bullying. In Jin Yong's novels, these patterns are generally available. Like Sword with Royal Blood, it tells the story of Yuan Chengzhi's revenge for his father Yuan Chonghuan, and there is also a hidden line of revenge for the golden snake. For example, Lian Ji Cheng and Yi Tian Slaughter the Dragon are all based on the mode of "grabbing treasures". Like "Laughing and Doing Jianghu", it is close to "Demon-reducing Mode". For example, the earliest "The Book of Sword and Revenge" takes anti-alien rule as the main line and is close to the "anti-violence mode". Jin Yong's genius lies in borrowing a certain model, rather than simply falling into a certain model. He is always changing, trying not to let the pattern bind his hands and feet as much as possible, often combining different patterns of martial arts novels, and even absorbing some patterns of detective novels, mystery novels or romance novels (such as "The Pattern of Love Change") for his own martial arts novels. Even The Legend of the Condor Heroes, written in the early years, is a combination of various modes, each with its own needs. Like Guo Xiaotian and Yang Tiexin, their children Guo Jing and Yang Kang want revenge when they grow up, which should be regarded as "revenge mode". But in the middle, Guo Jing and Yang Kang were apprenticed to the seven eccentrics in the south of the Yangtze River and Qiu Chuji in Changchun, respectively, and agreed to compete in 18 years. As the main clue of the story, it also shows the magical kung fu of various groups of Wulin characters and their struggle for the suicide note of Wu Mu and Jiu Ming Zhen Jing. This has broken through the "revenge mode", just like "striving for hegemony", "resisting violence" and "robbing treasure". As for the revelation of the mystery of the six victims of the "seven eccentrics in the south of the Yangtze River", it is more like a detective mystery novel. "The Condor Heroes" focuses on Yang Guo's tortuous growth path and his unswerving love story with the little dragon girl, but it also runs through the plot of fighting for so-called martial arts secrets such as "Heart Sutra of Jade Girl" and "The True Sutra of Jiuyang", and there are many modes to choose from under the background of resisting Yuan and violence. What the author really pays attention to is not the pattern, but the character. The story clue and plot focus are set from the perspective of character. Jin Yong once said: "My personal ideal in writing martial arts novels is to create characters. ..... when I conceived it, I was also centered on the protagonist. I first thought about the personalities of several main characters, and the plot is also in line with the protagonist's personality. What kind of personality does this person have, what kind of things will happen. " Therefore, these plots are relatively solid within their own scope and can withstand scrutiny. And later, the plot design of the novel became more rigorous and mature.
Second, double suspense, interlocking.
Novels, especially martial arts detective novels that are good at telling stories, should set and use suspense. However, the level of achievement during this period cannot be measured by roads. Suspense is often used in China's classical novels, mostly between stories, which is related to the storyteller's interest in the audience. Jin Yong's suspense is the usage of modern novelists: not only in the middle of the story, but also at the beginning of the novel. Chivalrous Man and Dragon Eight Branches are contradictory from the beginning, which deserves attention. From the very beginning, the legendary swordsman has an extremely tense scene: after the young master of the whoring bureau fought with someone and was forced to kill a Sichuanese surnamed Yu, dead people kept dying in the drifting bureau that night, and prostitutes were killed one by one without any scars. More than 20 people died in succession in the whole whoring bureau. The enemy wrote in blood on the ground: "He who walks out of ten steps dies!" "An atmosphere of terror. Lin Zhennan, the chief prostitute, dissected the body of the deceased, only to find that his opponent was a master of Qingcheng School. He used a powerful "heart-destroying palm": he could shake the heart into many pieces without hurting the skin appearance. In this case, Lin Zhennan and his wife had to abandon their homes and flee, and were quickly arrested by the Qingcheng Sect, leaving only the young master Lin Pingzhi to escape after being rescued. There are many suspense in the first chapter of the novel: what is the tragic situation of the Lins' whoring bureau? What is the reason behind it? What happened after Lin Pingzhi escaped? Can he practice martial arts and take revenge in the future? These suspense make readers eager to read on and want to know the truth. In the course of the story, the original suspense has not been completely solved, and the author of the novel has created and arranged a series of new suspense: Liu Zhengfeng, a famous teacher of Hengshan School, tried to get rid of the right and wrong in the Jianghu, but was resolutely stopped by Wuyue Sword School such as Songshan School, and even Liu Zhengfeng's whole family was going to be killed. What is the reason? Ling Huchong, a disciple of Huashan Sect, saved the little nun who was killed. He was badly injured and almost died. Why would anyone want to slander him? Wait a minute. Such a link is interlocking, so that readers have to read nervously. Therefore, being good at setting suspense is a major feature of Jin Yong's novels in plot. Some works remain in suspense until the end. Some readers asked Jin Yong: "Have the knives of Snow Mountain Flying Fox, China and Pei Hu been cut?" Jin Yong smiled and said, "I don't even know."
Jin Yong seems to be particularly good at raising suspense through a sudden turning point. Zhang Wuji, Xie Xun, etc. After all the difficulties and obstacles, I finally returned home by boat from overseas. Suddenly, the situation changed: the Dragon Slayer Road and the Sword of Eternity suddenly disappeared, the warships of Zhao Min and Persia also dispersed, and Zhang Wuji and Xie Xun also weakened. This is a sudden major turning point in the plot. Who stole the Dragon Slayer Road and the Sword of Eternity? What does this matter have to do with Zhao Min or Persian ships? How did Zhang Wuji and Xie Xun weaken? Since then, the novel has entered the confusing realm of detective solving crimes, which makes people want to stop.
Suspense in Jin Yong's works sometimes exists in the form of suspense. Mystery is actually a kind of suspense, but sometimes it is very clear, and sometimes it is not pointed out or realized by readers. The mysteries in Jin Yong's novels are often multiple: dark and bright, big and small, combined with each other and interlocking. Take "Chivalrous Man" as an example, that is, there is a little mystery in the big mystery. The poems of "Chivalrous Journey" and "Tai Xuan Jing" on the stone wall of Chivalrous Island contain a set of superb martial arts, which no one can decipher. This is a big mystery. There is another mystery in this mystery: the Chivalrous Island Master sends people to punish evil and promote good every year, and every few years, he invites the leaders of various gangs to the island to drink Laba porridge, and those who have gone never come back, thus causing panic among Wulin gangs, and everyone is afraid of losing the boss's life. In this case, Changle gang cleverly robbed a little beggar-born figure to be the leader. There is still a mystery below: why did Changle gang rob this little beggar to be the leader? It turns out that he looks like Wang Zhongyu who disappeared before. This used to be a playboy, but after he was hailed as the king, he got what he wanted. Before he disappeared, he had caused a lot of trouble, and the consequences were borne by a little beggar who looked like him, causing many embarrassing things. And this little beggar has his own mystery of life experience, which gradually leads to the contradiction between love triangle and stone when he was young, and so on. The plot is so complicated, but it is like peeling bamboo shoots layer by layer, and it is very compact and organized. Until the end, it was a semi-open ending: because of the suicide of Mei, the foster mother of the little beggar, the answer was clear, but the author did not reveal it.
There are similarities and differences in the plot composition methods of Tian Ba Long Bu. The three protagonists here have three mysteries of life experience. They are three rings, forming three interlocking sets with each other. Duan Yu's father Duan Zheng Chun was merciful everywhere, so that Duan Yu met several girls he liked one after another, but it turned out to be his sister. This is a big mystery. There are also some small mysteries, such as Duan's wife, Dao Baifeng, who solved the mystery of Duan Yu's life experience regardless of her husband's sexual relationship. The mystery of Qiao Feng's life experience and his tragic ending are the most touching, including many social contents in the period of sharp contradiction between Song and Liao Dynasties. It is related to the previous riddles through the sworn relationship between Duan Yu and Arjun and A Zi, Duan Yu's half-sisters, and especially through the relationship between Duan and Madame Ma Kang Min. It itself contains several smaller riddles, such as Arjun and A Zi. The third mystery, Xu Zhu's life experience, was revealed by gradually solving the mystery of his sworn brother Qiao Feng. The so-called "evil" Ye Erniang's abnormal personality and why Xu Zhu became a monk were explained at this time; It also contains several small mysteries, such as Mu Tong in Tianshan Mountain and Princess Xixia. In this way, the structure of the book seems a little scattered at first glance, but it is quite compact on closer inspection, which really embodies profound and rich ideological connotation. It is really called "all beings are guilty, and no one is unjust." A novel with such a complicated plot structure may be an outstanding creation that only Jin Yong can achieve, which is difficult for other martial arts novelists to achieve.
The third is illusory and confusing.
This is also a secret set by Jin Yong's plot, which can receive special psychological effects.
In the legendary swordsman, Ling Huchong and Ren Yingying finally achieved a happy marriage. As a demon religion, Sun Moon Shintoism reconciled with orthodox sects such as Hengshan Sect, Shaolin Sect and Wutang Sect after Yingying became the leader. This ending is of course happy, but if you tell the readers in this ordinary way, it will be indifferent and tasteless, and will not leave a deep impression on the readers. Jin Yong's writing style is to fully exaggerate the tense atmosphere of "the coming rain will cast its shadows before it": after Ling Huchong refused to lead Hengshan Sect to join Sun Moon Shinto, Ren Woxing announced in front of tens of thousands of people at Huashan Conference that he would kill all the chickens and dogs on Hengshan Mountain within one month. Ling Huchong walked down Huashan with a stubborn and desperate mood. He felt that he would never have a chance to see Yingying again in his life, and he knew that his death had come and he was outnumbered. Tens of thousands of people went to Hengshan Mountain, and the Hengshan Sect with a total of * * * 1200 people was wiped out in an instant. Of course, even if he tried his best to kill more magic characters, it would not help. I'm in a bad mood, just doing nothing. Later, Shaolin and wu-tang clan people actively supported, brought explosives, buried mines, planned a big battle, set up several defense lines, prepared to kill Ren Woxing in a planned way, arranged a planned retreat, and preserved their effective strength. Everything is ready, and readers will wait and see how to fight the next big war and what the result will be. At this time, the news suddenly came from the magic religion, and the sermon was mainly to visit Ling Huchong, Master Zheng Fang and Taoist priest in Xu Chong, and a sedan chair went up Mount Hengshan. Readers wonder: What tricks are the demons playing? Until a precious gift was given, the leaders met Ling Huchong in secret, and finally the sedan chair was sent down the mountain. The mystery in everyone's heart is still unsolved. When Gu Tao's silly six immortals told Yingying and Ling Huchong Ren Woxing who were sitting in the sedan chair that they were dead, it was the dialogue that Yingying took over as the leader that leaked out, and the readers found themselves fooled by Jin Yong. The more the author emphasizes the description of the tense atmosphere ahead, the more unexpected the peaceful ending will be, and the stronger the psychological effect will be among readers. This is called a diversion. Although readers find themselves cheated, they are also willing, relieved and particularly happy.
In "Dragon's Eight Branches", Duan Yu was kidnapped to Gusu by the cave of the wine demon, saying that he would take it to Murong Bo's grave for incineration the next day. Jiu Mo-zhi is skilled in martial arts, and he is also an "old friend" with Murong family. He has surrendered to Yan Zhi, Cui Baiquan and Duan Yu many times. Arjun and A Bi secretly sympathize with Duan Yu, but they are no match for this formidable enemy. For Duan Yu, the environment is really dangerous to the extreme. He thought that there was no way out, so he had to sadly enjoy the last moment of his life: he asked A Bi to play a song for him in the "rain house" surrounded by water. "Even if this big monk is burned to ashes tomorrow, it's not worth it." Unexpectedly, I was surprised. Look:
A Bi stood up and said, "As long as you are not afraid of ugliness, make a fool of yourself and entertain guests." Said, and walked behind the screen, holding a lyre. A Bi sat on the brocade stool, put the lyre on the front seat, waved to Duan Yu, and said with a smile, "Duan Gongzi, please come and have a look. Do you know what kind of piano this is? "
Duan Guan walked up to her and saw that the lyre was one foot shorter than the ordinary lyre, but it had nine strings, each with a different color. He said thoughtfully, "This nine-string lyre is the first time in my life." Ah Zhu went over and pointed to a string, which sounded loud. It turns out that this string is made of metal. Duan Yu said, "Sister, this piano ..."
Just said these four words, I suddenly felt that my feet were empty and my body sank straight down. I couldn't help shouting "Ouch", and then I felt that I had fallen into a soft place. At the same time, I heard "Ouch", "Oops" and plop, and then my body shook and something moved out. This change is strange and rapid. I sat up quickly and found myself in a boat. Arjun and Abi are at the stern, each with a wooden paddle. Looking back, it turned out that the heads of Jiu, Cui Baiquan and Guo were coming out of the water. Arjun and A Bi rowed only a few times, and the boat was a few feet away from "Listening to the Rain". ⑤
It turns out that there is an organ in the "rain house" on the water. Open the flippers from the outside, people in the room fall into the water, and the sound of the piano is the signal. The boat under the piano saved Duan Yu's life. What the novel brings to readers at the moment is an unexpected surprise. The more the immediate danger is fully contrasted, the more readers worry about the fate of Duan Yu, and the greater the surprise they will get later. Jin Yong's novels are good at writing from the opposite side with such false words, which has received a strong effect of surprising readers. On the fourth day, Qifeng suddenly turned and dared to use a dangerous pen.
In order to brew and write the climax, martial arts novelists sometimes have to take risks and use some risky pen and ink that ordinary people dare not use. The risky pen can promote the climax and make it get better results, but it also has the effect of rebounding. If used improperly, it may be counterproductive and lead to a worse situation. Just like in The Legend of the Condor Heroes, Guo Jing, Huang Rong and the injured Hong Qigong coaxed Ouyang Feng and his son to eat the half-baked wild sheep that Hong Qigong peed on on on a desert island, Ouyang Feng didn't fall for it, and that was just self-inflicted.
Jin Yong's novels successfully used the dangerous pen. The wedding scene of Zhang Wuji and Zhou, the protagonists in The Dragon Slayer, is an adventure. Zhang Wuji finally married Zhao Min; Although Zhou Lire also has a good impression on Zhang Wuji, the head of Emei Sect, the extinct teacher, forced her to swear in advance that she could not really be with Zhang Wuji, so she could only use his relationship to steal the dragon slaying way and kill Xie Xun, the golden lion king. If they really get married, the whole plot of the novel will be destroyed and the story will have to develop in different ways. Therefore, this is not easy to clean, and it is a bit dangerous. Jin Yong still uses it. He dared to arrange a wedding for Zhang Wuji and Zhou Zhiruo. Then the author arranged for Zhao Min to appear, took out a lock of Xie Xun's hair, and finally urged the marriage. Zhou Zhiruo and Zhang Wuji didn't really get married, and readers who know it are still worried about the author. But it was precisely because the wedding was arranged that the plot of the novel took a turn for the better and the problems were quickly exposed and solved. The novel soon reached its climax.
In the legendary swordsman, this is an article about selecting teachers, entrusting Ling Huchong to be the principal of Hengshan School before his death. Although such an arrangement can show that Ling Huchong is a decent person and is trusted and loved by the Hengshan Sect, it will certainly arouse the discussion of many people in the Jianghu and cause all kinds of right and wrong and twists and turns. Le Hou, the messenger of Songshan School, said, "In Hengshan School, nuns have always been the gatekeepers. As a man, can Ling Huchong break the rules of Hengshan School for hundreds of years? " (5) But the development of the storyline must make Ling Huchong the head of Hengshan School, because if he is not the head of one school, without his participation, many entanglements and struggles caused by the merger of wuyue School at Songshan meeting will be difficult to write, at least not so colorful; Even later, Ren Woxing asked Ling Huchong to lead Hengshan Sect to join Sun Moon Shinto and appointed him as the deputy leader, but Ling Huchong openly refused on the spot, so that he immediately announced that he would kill a chicken and dog in Hengshan within one month, and these storylines deteriorated. The author knows that it is risky to write like this, but he has to write like this. Fortunately, the author took great pains to make careful arrangements: let Ling Huchong take remedial measures to deal with the aftermath, absorb non-monks, apprentices and other monks and laymen to Mount Hengshan, live in the "Hengshan Farewell" without valley, and stipulate that it is not allowed to go to the sexual peak where nuns live, and so on. After such treatment, it is almost reasonable on the whole.
In addition, the little dragon girl in The Condor Heroes was raped by Yin Zhiping before marrying Yang Guo, which is also a sketch. This was an ambush more than ten years after she broke up with Yang Guo, which pushed the innocent story of a dispatched person to the extreme.
Of course, a rising tide lifts all boats, and taking risks with a pen, in turn, requires the author to write the climax better. This is the case in "Eternal Dragon Slayer". Jin Yong let Zhang Cuishan of Wutangmen and Yin Susu of Zoroastrianism (regarded as the magic religion) combine because of love, bringing together members of two feuding sects, which is naturally another kind of sketch. Sure enough, it brought a sudden turning point in the development of the plot and formed the climax of the novel. When the couple returned from overseas with their five-year-old child, Zhang Wuji, Wudang Mountain was beaming for a while. But soon, the truth of his wife Yin Susu's injury to the three senior brothers came to light, and she was so ashamed that she had to confess to her master and disciples and then committed suicide on the spot. When his wife Yin Susu saw that her husband was dead, she drew her sword and killed herself. The festive atmosphere of reunion turned into a cruel scene of corpses everywhere in an instant. This scene is extremely heroic, which not only highlights the brotherhood of the Wudang Seven Heroes, but also shows the deep affection between Zhang Yin and his wife. It can be described as dripping with ink and touching. Without an adventurous pen, this touching effect is unimaginable when the climax comes.
In short, using an adventurous pen at a critical moment is an important factor to attract the plot of Jin Yong's novels, and it can also be said that it is a kind of desperate writing.
Five words are unexpected and in people's minds.
One of the greatest strengths or fundamental characteristics of Jin Yong's novels in plot is "surprise" and "surprise", which is bold, novel and reasonable. No matter how tortuous, bizarre and absurd the plot of a novel is, it must conform to its own truth, so that people can be interested in reading it without being disgusted. Journey to the West is skillful in writing the seventy-two changes in the Monkey King, but it can only be changed according to its own reasons. He can't fight Erlang God. He turned his tail into a flagpole and stood behind the house, showing his flaws and being seen by Erlang God. This is a very successful stroke in The Journey to the West. We can't blame Wu Cheng'en: since the Monkey King is so capable, you can't hide your tail! Because such a request is contrary to reason. Even some modernist works in the west are like this. Kafka's novels are shocking, not because the author imagines that someone wakes up from sleep and becomes a big beetle, but because he writes all kinds of extremely painful, terrible, unimaginable and reasonable experiences that this person has encountered after becoming a beetle: he tries to turn over, but he can't, and his parents, relatives and friends around him are afraid to get close to him and abandon him. He couldn't express his pain, and he had nowhere to talk, and he was desperate. Kafka wrote this painful situation deeply, which was very shocking. Therefore, the novel is not afraid of the absurdity of the plot, and it is afraid of lack of feeling.
The advantage of Jin Yong's novels lies in not only imagining and conceiving many bold, bizarre and tortuous plots, but also making these plots more in line with cleaning up and seemingly justified, combining rich imagination with the perfect senses as much as possible. His plot, if you think about it carefully, is both "unexpected" and "in people's minds". In "Dragon's Eight Branches", Duan Yu, who was the most heartless, finally became the emperor, and the monk who had the least desire for men and women became a very happy Xixia Xu. The deepest national hatred was "killed to death" in order to calm the Liao country without fighting, and the last one who wanted to be the emperor was crazy, so he could only die alone in the south. Did we anticipate it in advance? It can be said that it was completely unexpected. But on second thought, it all makes sense. Yue Buqun and the legendary swordsman, the leaders of Taihuashan Sect, are called "Gentleman's Sword" and have done so many unnatural things. A hypocrite is even more terrible than a real villain, as if surprising. But looking back, it is not surprising that he did a lot of bad things long ago, just hiding it. He had long coveted the Lins' sword spectrum to ward off evil spirits, and sent people to Fuzhou almost at the same time as the Qingcheng School. He stole the sword spectrum while Ling Huchong was seriously injured and unconscious, and in turn framed Ling Huchong and expelled Ling Huchong from Huashan School. The meanness of the means is outrageous. From the beginning, he stood with Zuo Lengchan, the head of Songshan Sect, on the merger of Wuyue Sword Sect into one faction. At first, the reader thought that he just gave in to the pressure of Zuo Lengshan, but in fact, he had greater ambitions than Zuo Lengchan, and even Yi Ding and others who opposed the merger were assassinated by him. Therefore, Yue Buqun's true colors are finally revealed, which is both shocking and convincing. And Ouyang Feng in The Legend of the Condor Heroes, after practice, everything turned upside down. He walked upside down with his hands, his internal qi reversed, and he was unconscious. Facing his own shadow, he shouted in horror, "Don't chase me, don't chase me!" " This ending is very unique, who would have thought! However, after much deliberation, Ouyang Feng's fate is understandable, because he was too eager to dominate the Wulin, and practiced according to the upside-down Jiuyin Zhen Jing by hook or by crook, and finally possessed himself and died soon. Many plots in Jin Yong's novels are so bizarre, unexpected, reasonable and in people's minds.
Of course, it is not that Jin Yong is perfect. Some plots in the book also show obvious flaws. For example, The Legend of the Condor Heroes wrote that Guo Jing went to Zhao to steal medicine to cure Wang Chuyi's poison, arrested Jane's housekeeper, twisted his right arm, and asked him to ask Wan Yankang for medicine. This housekeeper Jane is incredibly honest, and she doesn't shout in front of Zhao's many martial arts experts (that's his best umbrella). Instead, after leaving them, Guo Jing was called a "thief" when he got the medicine. I'm afraid the only purpose of writing this article is to give Guo Jing a chance to drink the blood of poisonous snakes that Liang Ziweng has been feeding with ginseng for a long time. Another example is "Sword stained with royal blood", the third anniversary of Yuan Chonghuan's disaster, and Li Zicheng sent Liu Fangliang. Tian Jianxiu came all the way to Dongguan County, Guangdong Province to contact the old employees in Yuan Chonghuan. This is also an unreasonable thing. The third anniversary of the Yuan Chonghuan disaster is the sixth year of Chongzhen. At that time, Li Zicheng was still a little boy under Gao Yingxiang (he defected to Gao Yingxiang during Chongzhen years four years ago). How could he send and contact Guangdong (Tian and Liu had not voted for Li Zicheng at that time)? It was not until Gao Yingxiang, the original champion of Chongfen in nine years, was killed by the loyalist that Li Zicheng was promoted to be the champion. Obviously, in this particular plot, the novel has shortcomings.
But these are individual defects after all. Generally speaking, the plots of Jin Yong's novels are tense, lively, tortuous, reasonable, open and close, and the stitches are dense, so they are extremely wonderful. This is a great achievement of Jin Yong's novels, which is difficult for other martial arts novelists to reach.
