Creation background
Before Moka Maid Sakura, CLAMP had serialized a work called Magic Knight in Good Friends. Towards the end of the work, the editor at that time expressed the hope that they could be serialized in Good Friends. The author intends to serialize a work that is more in line with the style of "Good Friends", so he soon thought of trying magic girl comics.
Nanase Ohkawa claimed to know nothing about the works of magical girls, but she felt that she could understand the girls' feelings of worshipping magic, so she decided to accept the challenge. Because the readers of "Good Friends" are mostly girls in grade 4~6 of primary school, the author imagines that children of this age will be the protagonist of the story, and the protagonist should be the envy of readers.
In addition, several characters with the original color of The Clamp have been added, such as Shi Zhi and Xiao Ke. At the initial seminar, the details of painting were determined: thin lines, no hanging eyes and not too many eyelashes. What the author wants to create is not omnipotent magic, but a certain law, so the setting of "card" is adopted. The design of Kuloka is mainly influenced by tarot cards.
