Why did Ma Chao crusade against Cao Cao

In March of the 16th year of Jian 'an (2 1 1), Cao Cao sent Zhong You and Xia to the east of the river, trying to attack Zhang Lu in Hanzhong through the turf of Liangzhou warlords such as Ma Chao. Kansai warlords headed by Ma Chao and Han Sui all suspected that Cao Cao would attack and annex Liangzhou.

Ma Chao (176-222) was born in Maoling, Fufeng (now Xingping, Shaanxi Province), the descendant of General Han, and the son of Ma Teng who became famous as a teenager. Cao Cao repeatedly called Ma Chao into Beijing as an official, but all of them were rejected by Ma Chao. Then Marten entered Beijing, sealed Wei Yan, and Ma Chao commanded Marten's troops.
