Major badminton events
BWF/ Badminton World Federation (formerly International Badminton Federation/World Badminton Federation) initially distinguished badminton events according to their stars, with the highest being the seven-star event. The four-year Olympic Games, biennial team events such as Tang You Cup, Sudirman Cup and World Badminton Championship are all seven-star events. The highest level of the Open is six stars, and there are a large number of international badminton competitions every year.
But there are only a handful of six-star competitions. Since 2007, BWF has cancelled this classification and divided all kinds of events into 4 grades and 7 categories. The highest level is the first-class competition, namely the World Badminton Championship, the Olympic Badminton Competition, the Tangyou Cup and the Sudirman Cup. Followed by secondary events, including 12 Super Series and Super Series Finals.
