Stethoscopes are props for many children to play house or Halloween, but most stethoscopes are just role-playing decorations and can't hear the sound.
Since last year, Da 'an Forest Park Foundation held the "Da 'an Forest Park Ecological Expo" on the last weekend of April, inviting many conservation groups, school associations and public institutions to set up stalls in Da 'an Forest Park to share the achievements and experiences of conservation education with citizens or passers-by for two days.
Last year, our booth (Taipei Animal Conservation Education Foundation) was called "Talking about Animals in Black and White". Talking about the excrement of ten kinds of animals with the zoo, we can see the status of animals. This year, our foundation not only talked about the life span of animals and the current situation and crisis of snake-eating turtles in its own booth, but also asked children to draw lots to play role-playing with the zoo. After the nurse or veterinarian is drawn, he will change into a vest to be a nurse or a surgical gown to be a small veterinarian, and then the small veterinarian will come to our booth to help the turtle see a doctor.
The first bottleneck in helping the tortoise to see a doctor is how to make the tortoise lie flat. The answer is "make a doughnut to stop the turtle from rolling", and then let the children listen to the turtle's heartbeat with a stethoscope. While telling them how to use the stethoscope, we asked them, "Did you hear the heartbeat? 」
This is all about The King's New Clothes, because the tortoise is real, but it is not alive, just a specimen. But from time to time, the child will still answer: "Yes! 」
Of course, some children will stop pretending and start listening to their brothers and sisters or their own heartbeat and pulse sounds after discovering that turtles can't have a heartbeat at all. If it weren't for the long distance between the booth and the tree, I would definitely let the children listen to the sound of the tree.
