The History and Introduction of Maotai Town

1, historical evolution

Gupuli tribe lives in the ancient land of Maotai, where mulberry trees are everywhere. Therefore, it was named "Sang Ma Bay". Later, a pure spring was found on the east bank of Chishui River. The Puli tribe built a square well to facilitate pedestrians to drink water. After a long time, people called this place "Square Well" instead of "Sang Ma Bay".

Since then, human activities along the river have been frequent and gradually developed. Throughout the ages, people in Puli built earthen platforms behind the streets and erected lamp poles to worship their ancestors, expressing their reverence for their ancestors' pioneering work. They used to call it "Maotai", hence the name Maotai. This land is well-known and popular, and a large number of Puli people have settled here.

During the reign of the Emperor of the Western Han Dynasty, the productivity of Yelang area increased and the grain production was overproduced, which provided material conditions for the rise of the wine-making industry.

After the Yuan Dynasty, villages, villages, flats and departments were set up below the county level, and it was officially named "Maotai Village" (the earliest record of the place name of Maotai Village was the genealogy of Huai De Si 'an in the late Yuan and early Ming Dynasties). Later it was called "Maocun".

Wanshou Palace was built on Maotai Street in Ming Dynasty, and there was an extremely rare half bridge outside the palace. Local residents and past businessmen crossed the half bridge to worship Buddha in the palace, so people also called Maotai Street "half bridge".

After the Ming Dynasty, Maotai became increasingly prosperous, and nine temples were built on both sides of Chishui River. Three bronze drums of the Eastern Han Dynasty (one of which has been unearthed) are collected in the palaces of Kannonji and Yu, so it is also called Sangu Temple, and Maotai Village is also called Yungu Town.

In the year of Qingganlong 10 (1745), the governor of Guizhou, Zhang Guangsi, asked to dig Chishui River before sailing. Sichuan salt was brought in through Chishui River and landed in Maotai, which was called "Ren 'an" and became one of the four ports where Sichuan salt entered Guizhou.

Due to the smooth land and water, merchants from all directions gathered, salt merchant teams and boats came in an endless stream, and the market flourished. It has become a prosperous market town of "Sichuan salt goes to Guizhou, Qin merchants gather in Maotai" and "the family only stores wine and sells it, and the ship carries more salt", which is the main distribution center of materials in northern Guizhou.

Therefore, it is simply called "Shang Yi Town". But because people are used to calling Maotai, it is difficult to change it, so it was changed to "Maotai Town".

The success of the Zhou Enlai-Geneva meeting of the Eastern Cyclone depends on "two sets of plans";

Premier Zhou Enlai is a generation of celebrities. He paid the most attention to and cared about Moutai in his life, and was deeply respected and loved by Maotai people. He has endless stories with Moutai all his life. I only picked him up here and used Moutai as a diplomatic wave.

1June, 950, the Korean War broke out. More than two months later, American troops landed in Incheon and crossed the 38th parallel, which seriously threatened China's national security. The armies of China and North Korea fought for three years with the armies of sixteen countries represented by the United States, and finally forced them to sit down and sign an armistice agreement.

1954 in April, Zhou Enlai led a delegation to attend an international conference in order to peacefully solve the problems of Korean reunification and Indian zhina after the armistice.

This is the first official appearance of the new China leader in the international political arena, which has aroused great interest in the media. At that time, politicians and diplomats arrived in Geneva. Among them: U.S. Secretary of State Dulles, Soviet Foreign Minister Molotov, British Foreign Secretary Eden, French Foreign Minister Piedur, etc.

For the first time, New China participated in an international conference as one of the five major countries, forcing the western countries that have not recognized the new China to recognize China's international status.

Foreign journalists told Zhou Enlai, Premier the State Council of China and head of the foreign minister's delegation: This is a young red diplomat leading a group of young red diplomats. Soon, they learned from the resume of Zhou Enlai's legendary career that he was an outstanding politician, strategist and diplomat in China.

At the Geneva Conference, Zhou Enlai conducted diplomacy actively and flexibly with amazing wisdom and talent. On the second day of the meeting, a reception was held in the name of the China delegation to entertain delegates, journalists and international friends. Maotai liquor, with its excellent quality, suddenly became the topic of banquet. The host and guest were very happy, and frequently raised their glasses to exchange the feelings of tasting Moutai, so that Moutai could shine among the representatives of the participating countries.

Butterfly lovers, a China drama full of human feelings, has also become a hot topic outside the Geneva Conference.

In order to let westerners know about China culture and China people's feelings, Zhou Enlai translated the title of the film into Romeo and Juliet in China, and then gave it to Chaplin, a master of film art who lives on the shores of Lemmon Lake (Chaplin also drank Maotai for the first time at this meeting and called it "the wine that real men drink").

Therefore, diplomats gathered in Geneva said with emotion: Zhou Enlai not only promoted diplomacy with art, but also turned diplomacy into an art.

When Premier Zhou Enlai reported to the CPC Central Committee after returning to China, he said with deep feelings: "There were two' ones' that helped us succeed at the Geneva meeting, one was Maotai and the other was Liang Zhu."
