International go federation's related knowledge

International go federation was first established in Tokyo, Japan in 1982, initiated by Japan Chess Institute. In the first 20 years, this organization has not been recognized by the "mainstream world of Weiqi" including China and South Korea, and the chess institutes in China and South Korea are not very enthusiastic about it. As we all know, there are not many events under international go federation's banner, and the World Amateur Go Championship is the main one.

However, hard work will always pay off. As the only world organization of Weiqi, the International Weiqi Federation has been recognized by more and more countries and regions, and gradually developed and expanded. Today, there are 765,438+0 member associations. This scale can't be compared with FIFA, FIBA, even FIBA and IBF, but it is enough to be recognized by the International Sports Federation. In 2005, it officially became its member organization, thus legally ruling the world of Go. Due to the close cooperation between the Federation of International Sports Federations and the International Olympic Committee, its recognition means a place in the world sports arena. It was not until the first World Intellectual Games was held in Beijing that many people discovered the importance of such a unified world organization. If there is no such organization as a support, it is not smooth for Go to enter the Wisdom Games. If the World Intellectual Games can continue to be held, or if Weiqi impacts the Winter Olympics one day, the International Weiqi Federation will remain the only "legal" media.

Looking back on the world chess competitions in the last two decades, whether it is the earliest Fujitsu Cup, Shi Ying Cup, or the later Chunlan Cup and Samsung Cup, in the final analysis, they are all commercial cups, not real world championships. No matter the size and representativeness of the contestants or the authority of the organizers, it is not enough to call it a world championship. Just as there is only one world championship in gymnastics, track and field, weightlifting and other events, they are all sponsored by the International Sports Federation, the IAAF and the International Federation of Lifting. There are many other types of cups, but they are not authentic World Championships.

The unique feature of the Weiqi Competition in the Zhiyun Games is that it is the first truly world-wide competition, in which professional and amateur players compete together, and the number of participating countries and regions reaches 60. Judging from the competitive level, it may not be as good as the international competitions in which 20 or 30 professional players from a few countries and regions such as China, Japan and South Korea participated in the previous sessions, but when it comes to representativeness and promoting the development of the world Go, the latter is incomparable. If one day the International Go Federation can organize a real world champion, then the player who wins the championship will be an upright and rigorous world champion.
