Character experience, Clovis I.

In 48 1 year, 15-year-old Clovis inherited his father and became the leader of the Franks.

The first opponent he faced was Sia Griou, who claimed to be "the king of the Romans". Sia Griou was originally a Roman general stationed in Paris, and later became king on his own.

In 486, Clovis won the first major victory in his life-the Soyson War wiped out the main force of Griou in West Asia and sent his opponent to the guillotine. His greatest trophy was the land near Paris, and later he moved to Paris.

But when distributing other trophies, Clovis had an argument with his men. According to the tradition of Franks, the materials obtained in the war should be distributed to all soldiers by lot. Clovis wanted to return one of the jars regarded as the Holy Grail to the church, but one of the soldiers objected that Clovis had no right to take the bottle and chopped the Holy Grail in anger. Clovis had a bad attack on the spot, but in the end he used it as an excuse to kill the soldier. This story is widely circulated, and it conveys the meaning that Clovis is no longer the leader of a tribe, but has become a king who has the power to kill and seize power.

Clovis married a Christian princess of Burgundy at the age of 27.

In 500 AD, Clovis conquered the Principality of Burgundy, and turned the Rhone Valley in southeastern France into his own private property.

In 507, under the banner of Christian crusade against pagans, he attacked the Visigoth kingdom in southwest France today, sweeping the once powerful Goths to the south of the Pyrenees. Since then, the Pyrenees has almost become an eternal national border. Because of this war, he won great honor in the Christian world and was awarded the title of honorary consul by the emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire.

By the time Clovis died, he had drawn a rough map of the Frankish kingdom, and the whole Gaul region except Provence was under his control.
