The legend of agarwood splitting the mountain to save mother
Liu Xiang (Xi Liu), a scholar of the Han Dynasty, went to Beijing to catch the exam and passed by Huashan Temple. In the poem temple, he teased the three goddesses of Shen Huayue. The three goddesses were so angry that they wanted to kill them that they were told by Taibai Venus that they had a three-night marriage with Liu. The Third Virgin married Liu. After three nights, Liu sent a piece of agarwood as a farewell and told him to give birth to a son tomorrow.
Three Notre Dame was pregnant, and her brother Erlang God observed that she was angry with Huashan Mountain and pressed the Three Notre Dame in the cave below. The third virgin gave birth in the cave, called "Aquilaria sinensis"; He also sent a hag to his father. When Aquilaria sinensis became an adult, she looked for her mother Huashan. When she met He Xiangu, she was endowed with the immortal power. She stole Xuanhua's axe and fought against her uncle Erlang God in Huashan. ?
Erlang God split the mountain to save his mother.
In the thirty-fourth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty, Yang Erlang's life experience was described in the book "Qingyuan Miao Dao Xian Sheng Zhen Jun, a loyal and filial Erlang who protects the country and the people".
"There was a man named Yang and a golden boy." He had a relationship with Yun Hua, the fairy in the bullfighting palace, and Yang Erlang, the next son of Yun Huasheng. The Monkey King was ordered to hold Yunhua hostage in Taihang Mountain, and "the Queen Mother of the Bull Palace came to take Jiro to the Heavenly Palace".
When Jiro grew up, he learned about it and split the mountain to save his mother. He has a "mountain axe, a double-edged knife and a golden bow with silver bullets", and he is sworn brothers with the "Seven Saints of Meishan", including "White Horse and White Dog". After saving his mother, he nailed the Monkey King to the mountain.
As a deity of folk beliefs and Taoism, Erlang God Yang Jian has had many legends since ancient times, even affecting the names of places and mountains. Saving his mother by chopping a mountain is just one of his many legends. It exists in the The Journey to the West, and Jiro Bao Juan records his fairy tale of splitting Taoshan to save his mother.
There is also a legend that Liu Chenxiang split Huashan to save his mother.
Myth origin
Yang Jian, whose real name is Xiansheng Jiro Zhenjun, Qingyuan Miaodao Zhenjun and Xiansheng Renyou Wang, is usually considered as the name of the legendary Erlang God, referred to as Yang Erlang for short. The legend of Erlang God has been widely spread all over the country in history, and has been developing and evolving in the long process of spreading.
Saving his mother by splitting a mountain is just one of his many biographies, among which Erlang Shen's "Catch the Sun by Mountain" is more influential than saving his mother by splitting a mountain.
The source of Erlang's pursuit of the sun is earlier than saving his mother. The story of Jiro's pursuit of the sun was recorded in writing in the Ming Dynasty. See Jiro Bao Juan and The Journey to the West. Erlang God was ordered by the Queen Mother of the Bullfighting Palace to "seize the sun" to save his mother.
