Guandi Temple is located in Beitou District, Taipei City, near the intersection of Danshui River and Keelung River, close to mountains and waters. Lugang Town belongs to Changhua County and is a famous cultural ancient town in this province. Chaotian Palace in Beigang is a Mazu Tempel with a long history. In the thirty-third year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (A.D. 1694), thirty-four generations of trees with high hatred, such as Lin Jizong, crossed the sea from Meizhou, Fujian to Taiwan Province, stayed in Hong Kong and set up temples. At first, Mao An was sacrificed temporarily, and it was rebuilt in the Jin Dynasty in the eighth year of Yongzheng (A.D. 1730), and the tile-Mao Yi was used to lay the foundation for the future scale.
During the Daoguang period, the abbot Ruihe raised funds to rebuild. Wang Delu, the prefect of Fujian Navy, felt Mazu's blessing and presented a plaque of "Haitian coffin" and a drum and a Brahma bell to show his reverence. He also asked Daoguang to seal a plaque, and the "Virgin of Heaven" began to read official documents, thus making the Chaotian Palace the center of Mazu belief in Taiwan Province.
In the fourth year of Xianfeng, Cai Te, the discipline supervisor of Chiayi County, awarded Wang Chaolun, a grain storage road in ten counties of Jiang 'an, a suggestion to rebuild the temple.
In October of the 20th year of Guangxu, a fire broke out in Beigang Street, and a small part of the Chaotian Palace was burned, safe and sound. In the thirty-first year of Guangxu, the first earthquake occurred in Chiayi area, and Beigang Street was seriously damaged, and the Chaotian Palace Hall was also seriously damaged. Cai Ranbiao, the district head, aimed at rebuilding local gentlemen and was supported by Dali, Wuchang Prefecture, Beigang Branch. Donations come from all over Taiwan Province, and their names are engraved on the stone railings around them, including Banqiao Linbenjia, Taibei Avenue City, Haishanbao Dayao Street and Hsinchu Street in Hsinchu.
In March of the tenth year of the Republic of China, Chaotian Palace set up a management committee, with Cai Ranbiao, the head of Beigang District, as the manager.
1945, because the palace is small, the management Committee found a new terrace in front of the palace, called Zongsheng. The balcony is seven feet high and has three floors for pilgrims to rest, various exhibitions and performances in the pear garden.
1962, in line with the government policy, it was changed to a consortium legal person with Wang as the chairman. The Chaotian Palace has been expanded for 300 years, and the palace is magnificent. Every year, Mazu's birthday, activities to preach Buddhism and pray for peace attract believers from all over Taiwan Province.
