Chapter II Skiing Rules

Alpine skiing competition rules

Alpine skiing starts by one person in each event, and the starting order is determined by drawing lots, but some events need to ski twice, and the order of the second starting is determined by the result of the first competition. The departure interval is generally 60 seconds, and only cyclic projects adopt unequal departure times. When starting, athletes must wear sportswear marked with official seal (that is, clothing approved by the referee), starting number cloth, helmet, snowboard and ski pole, and must use detachable fixers.

The difference between alpine skiing events mainly lies in the different height difference between the starting point and the ending point of the venue, the different requirements for terrain and slope, and the different methods and numbers of flag gates.

The height difference between the starting point and the finishing point of men's downhill field is 800 ~ 1000m, and that of women is 500 ~ 700m m. The length of the thread should be designed to ensure that the best score of men in the Winter Olympics and World Championships is not less than 2 points, and that of women is not less than 1 minute for 40 seconds. In order to ensure the safety of the competition, in addition to inserting enough red and green indicator flags on both sides of the line, flag gates must also be set up in important areas (such as dangerous areas, slope transitions and bumps, transitions and areas where athletes are prone to slip in the wrong direction). The width of the flag gate shall not be less than 8 meters. Athletes must use the front end and feet of at least one snowboard to cross the flag gate line in order to pass the flag gate correctly. If the height difference between the starting point and the end point of the venue can not meet the requirements of the rules, a two-wheel downhill race can be organized (but the minimum height difference should not be less than 450 meters). The results of the two rounds of competition add up, and the side with less time ranks first.

The venue for the steeplechase should be built on a hillside with a slope of 20 ~ 27 degrees. The width of the site shall not be less than 40m. The height difference between the starting point and the finishing point is 140m ~ 220m for men and 120 ~ 180m for women. Men have 55-75 flag gates and women have 45-60 flag gates. Each flag gate consists of two flags and two flagpoles. Red and blue flag gates should be inserted alternately. The standard of the national flag is 2422 cm. The minimum distance between two flag gates shall not be less than 0.75m. The width of the flag gate shall be 4 ~ 6m. The flag gate shall include an open flag gate (the connecting line of two flag gates is perpendicular to the row direction), a closed flag gate (the connecting line of two flag gates is parallel to the row direction) and 1 ~ 4 flag gate groups composed of 3 ~ 4 flag gates, such as snake gate, spiral gate, triangle gate and diamond gate. The result of steeplechase is the sum of the results of gliding on two different routes, and the one with less time ranks first.

The giant slalom venue is usually inclined and wavy, with a width of at least 30 meters. The height difference between the starting point and the finishing point is 350-400 meters for men and 260-350 meters for women. The number of flag gates shall be 12 ~ 15% of the height difference. The flag gate is 4 ~ 8 meters wide. The minimum distance between the flagpoles of the nearest two consecutive doors shall not be less than10m. Generally, slalom requires double-wheel skating. The second round of taxiing can be carried out at the same venue, but the flag gate must be reset. The results of two rounds of skating add up, and the one with less time ranks first.

Super giant slalom requires undulating terrain. The width shall not be less than 30 meters. The height difference between the starting point and the finishing point is 500-650m for men and 350-500m for women. The width of the flag gate, the open flag gate is at least 6m, and the closed flag gate is at least 8 ~ 12m. The number of flag gates shall not exceed 10% of the height difference, but at least 35 men and 30 women.
