How did the football world rankings come out?

1993 FIFA introduced the world ranking of national teams for the first time, and its official partner Coca-Cola Company also obtained the naming rights. In the following years, FIFA's world ranking rules for national teams have also changed many times.

In order to make the ranking more reasonable and accurately reflect the recent performance of a national team. After the 2006 World Cup, FIFA implemented new rules for calculating points ranking. Compared with the past, the change is mainly from the accumulated achievements in the past eight years to four years. No longer consider the home and away factors and the number of goal difference. At the same time, the grade coefficient of various competitions and football associations on various continents was revised. At present, the ranking of FIFA national teams is used for grading lottery in some major competitions.

Current rules for calculating the ranking points of FIFA national teams;

Competition cycle (determined by the official competition results of the national team in the past four years)

Every Wednesday, FIFA will announce the latest month's ranking.

For example, the competition results from July 2005 to July 2009 determined the ranking in July 2009.

From August 2005 to August 2009, the ranking in August 2009 was decided. The rest can be inferred.

In each year, the total score obtained in all competitions is divided by the number of competitions, and the average score is the final score of the team in that year.

The cumulative sum of the four average points in the last four years is the team's current FIFA ranking.

However, in these four years. The integral per 1 year is not calculated as 100%.

The integral of nearly 1 month-12 months is multiplied by 100%.

Recent 12 months -24 months points multiplied by 50%.

The scores in the last 24 to 36 months are multiplied by 30%.

The scores of the last 36 months to 48 months are multiplied by 20%.

In other words, highlighting the importance of the recent 1 year competition can better reflect the recent team performance.

In addition, each team must play at least 5 games a year to get points in that year.

Specific to each team

Rules for calculating the score of each game:

1, the result of the game

Win (normal time) 3 points.

Win (penalty shootout) by 2 points.

Ping 1 integral

Negative (penalty shootout) 1 point

Negative (normal time) 0 points

2. Competition grade coefficient

Friendly match x 1.0

World Cup Qualifiers and Continental Cup Qualifiers x 2.5

Confederations Cup and Continental Cup Final Stage x 3.0

World Cup Final Stage x 4.0

3. The regional coefficient of the team.

This coefficient is determined according to the performance of football associations on all continents in the past three World Cups, and it is not fixed.

Europe x 1.00

South America x 0.98

Other four state football federations x 0.85

The regional coefficient of the two teams is added and divided by 2, which is the regional coefficient of the game.

4. Competitor ranking coefficient

Beating a strong team with a high ranking will definitely get more points than beating a weak team with a low ranking.

The ranking coefficient is: 200 minus the opponent's ranking and then divided by 100.

For example, if the opponent ranks second in the world, then 200-2 =198198 ÷100 =1.98.

Note: The direct calculation of ranking 1 is 0, and the ranking coefficient of opponents is 2.0.

After ranking 150 and 150, the ranking coefficient of opponents is 0.5.

According to the above four scoring principles, a team's score in a game is:

100 x (match result x match grade coefficient x region coefficient x opponent ranking coefficient)

Multiplying that 100 is nothing more than turning the final score into an integer.
