The custom of visiting temple fairs

Temple fairs are large and small. Generally speaking, if the temple fair has a spacious courtyard, spacious outside the temple and is located in a densely populated place extending in all directions, the temple fair will have a wide radiation area and a large scale. There are mainly three kinds of temple fair activities: first, monks and Taoist priests in the temple do "ceremonies" and "Dojo", that is, they hold ceremonies to worship the gods and buddhas, and in some places, statues as big as real people are tied to hold parades; Second, good men believe in women and worship, wishing happiness; The third is the literary, artistic and commercial activities carried out by this opportunity. Believers coming from all directions, together with people visiting the temple fair, constitute a lively scene of the temple fair. There are generally tens of thousands of people, and they are famous in Fiona Fang for hundreds of miles.

Most relatives, friends and neighbors go to the temple fair in droves. Most farmers in the countryside also put down their farm work to catch the temple fair. People gathered in four townships and eight towns want to eat, live, buy things and watch the fun, which provides broad business opportunities for temple fairs. Every large-scale temple fair, all kinds of businessmen, craftsmen and Jianghu people come from all directions, such as selling snacks, shoes, hats, cloth, lottery tickets, pills, powder pills, juggling, groceries and folk handicrafts, making the temple fair a big stage for Han folk economic and cultural activities.

In fact, some temple fairs with great influence are not only the spontaneous factors of Han people, but also the promotion of local governments or related groups. Large-scale temple fairs are often held not only for one day, but one or two days in advance, forming an atmosphere. The troupe came to set up the stage early and performed for several days. Businessmen also set up tents around the temple yard to hang out tricks, ready to make money for several days; Naturally, the local government should also send people to maintain law and order and collect land taxes. In this way, the temple fair has a prelude before the "positive day", a aftermath after it, and a climax in the middle. No matter the government and the people, business, piety and leisure, they can enjoy themselves and return home satisfied. Teams of stilts will cross the street in the drums, gongs and percussion music of women of all sizes. The number of people walking on stilts varies, generally more than a dozen. Tall people walk on stilts, short people walk on stilts. Performers wear traditional costumes. From the opening bar, there appeared artistic images such as Sean, White Snake, Tang Priest, Ugly Girl and Jiang Ziya. All along, because of humor, straightforward and gratifying, emotional and sometimes interesting, it is deeply loved by people.

Along the way, the big merchants set up the square table in front of the door, put on tea snacks and set off firecrackers to show their hard work. The stilt team will stay here for a while or perform a program to thank them.

When walking in the street, the stilt queue usually adopts a single-row snake array, and in busy and crowded areas, it adopts a double parallel formation. The steps are changed to eight characters. In the performance, there are difficult and dangerous moves such as small whirlwind, flower arm, kite turning over and big split.

Dancers perform with long wooden stilts tied to their feet. The people they play are dressed in costumes, full of make-up, singing and dancing, and often dress up as opera passbook, such as watching complex music, making trouble in the Heavenly Palace, crossing the sea by the Eight Immortals, and water and gold mountains. The figures on stilts have different shapes and heights because of their different identities. There is no water stone bridge under the three bridges, and only one bridge opening is opened in the middle. The cave is placed horizontally, with a square table on each side. On the table, there are two Taoist priests sitting cross-legged. At the top of the bridge mouth, a paper tire with a diameter of about two feet and a thickness of more than three inches hangs high, and the dough is covered with gold paper. The money is tied with red velvet rope from the north and south ends, and a small copper bell is tied in the middle hole. On the east and west sides of the bridge, there are many coin stalls that are no longer in circulation, and ten coins are exchanged for a dime.

Tourists aim at the small copper bells on the money holes five meters apart on both sides of the bridge deck. Whoever can ring these two clocks correctly will have a good year and everything will be smooth. This is the famous "eyes for money". Because the distance is long and the bronze bell is small, the collision is purely accidental. However, people always try their luck, even if they spend a lot of money to make money.
