Brief introduction of Jinding Temple
The origin of Jinding Temple has experienced a long historical evolution. During the Hongzhi period of the Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1488 ~ 1505), monks built temples here. During the Jiajing period (A.D. 1522 ~ 1566), Dali scholar Li Yuanyang built the Puguang Hall. In the year of Gengzi in Wanli (A.D. 1600), Sun Yuxian, an imperial envoy, visited the mountain and built a light tower at the request of monks. The year before Wanli (A.D. 16 19) directly led Pan Jun to build Guanfeng Pavilion. Ding Mao (AD 1627) pointed out that Zhu Taizhen built Tianchang Pavilion; It was Ji Maonian (A.D. 1637) who inspired Aojian Pavilion, Luocheng and Siguan Building, and Xu Bihong to build Jingxing Pavilion, which was Xin Sinian (A.D.164/KLOC-). Since then, incense has flourished in temples. In the 30th year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty (A.D. 169 1), the halls and pavilions were destroyed by fire, and only the bronze golden halls and towers were left. In the thirty-first year of Kangxi (AD 1692), Fan and Nomutu, the governor of Yunnan and Guizhou, listened to the request of monks in the mountains, demolished the Guangming Tower, built Tianyi Pavilion in the former site of Guanfeng Building, and took water from the sky to prevent fire. The Cold Rock Pagoda we see today was built by Long Yun, Chairman of Yunnan Provincial Government, at the request of monks in 1929. The tower was started on 1932 and completed on 1934, which lasted for three years and cost 1 ten thousand yuan. This 42-meter-high square eaves tower, with seven floors inside and thirteen floors outside, stands high on Tianzhu Peak. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, it became a natural navigation mark for foreign aid materials to fly over the hump. Climbing the 53rd spiral wooden ladder in the tower, you can see the reclining Buddha statue of Sakyamuni Buddha in the tower on the second floor. There is an iron fence around the tower on the second floor, where you can enjoy the distant mountains and valleys and the sunrise.
