The Historical Origin of Badminton World Federation

The Badminton World Federation was formerly known as the International Badminton Federation established by 1934. 1981May, the International Badminton Federation merged with the World Badminton Federation, keeping the original name. On September 24th, 2006, the International Badminton Federation was officially renamed as the Badminton World Federation.

Badminton World Federation is an international badminton management organization, established in 1934, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with 163 full member associations. The task of the World Badminton Federation is to popularize and develop the world badminton and strengthen the ties between badminton associations in various countries.

The current chairman is Danish Larsson, the Olympic champion of badminton men's singles in Atlanta Olympic Games, and the official working language is English.
