Explanation:
A national (regional) Olympic Committee may rank more than three in the top four of a certain event. In this case, the Olympic Committee can choose an athlete from 1-4 to report 3 (pairs), regardless of the ranking order when registering. If an athlete cancels the registration, this quota can be replaced by another athlete (pair) among the athletes (pairs) ranked in 1-4 by the Olympic Committee.
Athletes/doubles pairing ranking 5- 16:
3.3.3 The athletes/doubles pairs ranked 5- 16 in one event shall be considered in turn and qualified, but the number of participants in each Olympic Committee shall not exceed 2 (pairs).
Explanation:

5. Date/procedure for confirming the list
5. 1 BWF will announce the preliminary list of athletes participating in various events together with the BWF ranking table to all the associations and the International Olympic Committee before May 2008 10. 5.2 Each association/Olympic Committee shall determine whether the athletes/doubles who are qualified to participate in the competition will participate before May 3, 20081day.
6. Redistribution of unused qualifications

6.5 When item 6.4 is implemented, athletes who do not participate in the competition (doubles) are not counted in the total number of athletes/doubles of the Olympic Committee (notes 3.3.2 and 3.3.3).
