Due to the limited distance of the standard track and field, in order to ensure safety and prevent javelin throwing from hurting people too far, IAAF improved the equipment at 1986, so all the javelin world records set now are of new specifications, that is, the men's javelin weighs 800g and is 260 ~ 270cm long. At present, the world record of men's javelin throw is 98.48 meters, which was set by jan zelezny, a famous Czech athlete, many world championships and Olympic champion, at the196 Atlanta Olympic Games.
Women's javelin weighs 600 grams and is 220~230 cm long. At present, the world record of women's javelin throw is 72.28 meters. In the final of the World Track and Field Grand Prix held on September 13, 2008, Baboulaz Spota Kova, a famous Czech athlete and Olympic champion, broke the previous world record of 71.70m with a score of 72.28m, and set a new world record.
Javelin competition method
Olympic track and field events are usually divided into two groups, and those who pass the standard will go straight to the finals. If the number of athletes who meet the passing standards is less than 12, the insufficient number will be replenished according to the passing results.
The order of the first three rounds from the final of the project is decided by drawing lots. After the first three rounds of the final, the top eight athletes will be selected for the final three rounds according to the results; The fourth and fifth rounds are sorted in reverse order according to the results of the first three rounds, and the sixth round is sorted in reverse order according to the results of the first five rounds, with the best results jumping (throwing) at the end.
In throwing events, except for foul, it is only effective when the throwing equipment of the athlete completely falls within the landing area (excluding the sideline of the landing area), and the gun head should land before the gun tail. When measuring the results, it is calculated from the nearest landing point to the throwing area. Among them, javelin must be effective if the tip touches the ground first.
