Purpose of the competition: This ELAA essay poetry recitation competition aims at training and improving the English and stylistic level of freshmen in the School of Foreign Languages in our college. Deepen students' understanding of English-speaking countries' culture and enrich freshmen's after-school life. Let the students integrate into the wonderful university life more quickly.

Competition time:

Competition process:

Preliminary stage:

All registered students will take part in the preliminaries in the foreign language building, and participants are required to recite an English essay or an English poem with emotion. The subject matter is not limited, and the time must be controlled within 2 minutes. ELAA will also invite students who have won prizes in relevant English competitions to serve as judges. After the preliminaries, 40% of the students will have a chance to advance to the finals.

Final stage:

Students who have done well in the preliminaries will take part in more exciting finals. The competition system of plug-in will change, and each player will recite two materials, namely, self-selected materials and materials to be selected. The selected materials will be selected and provided by ELAA personnel, and the difficulty of the materials is moderate, and the time is controlled within 2 minutes. ELAA will also invite foreign teachers to serve as judges. If the contestants prepare original essays or poems, the judges will get extra points.

Scoring standard:

The score of the contestants will be composed of fluency in recitation (4 points), pronunciation and intonation (4 points) and typhoon (2 points), and the judges will deduct points from the contestants' things accordingly.

Award setting:

There will be a first prize 1 name, two second prizes and two third prizes, as well as a popularity prize and a typhoon prize. The winner will receive a certificate of honor issued by ELAA.

Activity details:

First of all, the activity is divided into two parts: the preliminary contest and the final contest. The preliminary contest was held in Boya, and the contestants brought their own poems to recite, and the genre was not limited, requiring healthy progress. Choose the best to enter the semi-finals.

Second, the final is divided into two parts. The first part is the same as the preliminary round. You can read the manuscript by yourself and attach relevant music, which is better. The contestants are required to read an English essay or English poem with emotion, and the time is controlled within 3 minutes. The second part is temporary recitation. The organizer prepares some English poems, and the contestants draw lots to decide to recite them. Give 15-20 minutes to prepare and improvise.

Thirdly, in the process of preparing for impromptu recitation, the organizer prepares some programs or games to mobilize the atmosphere of the scene.

4. After each player finishes, the judges will score the first, second and third prizes according to the player's pronunciation and intonation and emotional typhoon. TWICE (based on a scale of ten) will also select the wind prize and the contestants, and award the corresponding prizes.

1. Article 3 Planning Scheme of Recitation Competition

Time: Monday in the fourth week after the second class in the afternoon (March 10). Venue: 800-person meeting room of Science and Technology Building.

Note: the class can send representatives to the scene when drawing lots; Classes that do not arrive will be abstained. The recitation of the contestants and the tapes or CDs with music must be handed in to Class 3, Grade 2, Senior High School before the contestants draw lots (before noon on Friday). Those who fail to pay will be exempted.

2. Competition plan:

Manuscripts: Players must prepare their own manuscripts. The content revolves around the theme of this grand ceremony, which can be excellent classic poems at home and abroad, ancient and modern Chinese and foreign, or original works. The content of the work should be healthy and true. If it is an original work, please indicate it at the time of registration, and score it as appropriate during the competition (see scoring rules for details).

Form: single person, double person and group can be used, and the auxiliary expression forms are limited to music and modeling.

Schedule: (1) Players perform in the order determined by drawing lots, and are required to recite, not write. Those who fail to complete the manuscript will be deducted (see scoring rules for details).

(2) The performance time of each group shall not exceed 3 minutes. Those who fail to do so will be penalized (see the scoring rules for details).

(3) After the performance of each group of players, the judges will score the scores and submit them to the raters for statistics. The results of each group of players will be announced on the spot by the host after the performance of the next group of players.

(4) The organizer will count the final ranking of all the players immediately after the performance, and announce the results in the form of posters after the game.

3. Precautions:

(1) The competition must arrive at the venue 10 minutes in advance, and those who are late for the official competition 15 minutes will abstain. In case of special circumstances, if you can't be present or have something to delay, please inform the organizer in advance.

(2) Ensure the order of the stadium during the competition. If there is noise, it is invalid after being reminded twice by the supervisor. Please leave the stadium.

(3) In order to improve the competition efficiency and shorten the competition time, when the last group of players recite, please wait on the side of the stage. Players please sit in the player area provided by the organizer in order.

(4) After the competition, the players can ask the organizers for their own scoring table (which helps to understand their own advantages and disadvantages and ensure the fairness of the competition).

(5) If players or spectators are dissatisfied with the competition organization, they can report to the organizer or the Rights and Interests Department of the Student Union; Players or spectators who are dissatisfied with the judges' scores must report to the organizers after the game and must not disturb the order of the game during the game. Offenders cancel the results of the competition.

4. Scoring rules: total score 100.

E. Overall: The judges can score according to their own understanding of the content recited by the players and the overall performance of the players. (30%)

F. Others: For players who have not read the manuscript, 2 points will be deducted from the total score; Players who recite for more than 3 minutes will deduct 2 points from the total score; Players who are late for no reason will deduct 3 points from the total score; Players who recite the original work will be given 1 ~ 3 points according to the opinions of the judges and teachers. If plagiarism is found, the results of the competition will be cancelled directly.

5. Award setting:
