How did the teams in the Champions League come from?

UEFA is organized by UEFA, and all teams participating in UEFA belong to 18 football associations. As of 20 16, there are 55 member associations. Every year, UEFA adjusts the league points and rankings according to the record of each participating team in the last five seasons. The higher the ranking, the more places to participate in the European war. There are 32 teams participating in the Champions League (group match), and the ways to win several teams are as follows:

First, directly advance to the Champions League group stage:

1, Champions League champion

Usually, the defending champions of the last Champions League can directly qualify for the competition through domestic rankings, so they do not occupy the number of defending champions. Occasionally, the defending champion performed abnormally in the domestic league in that year (for example, in the 201/2012 season, the defending champion Chelsea only ranked sixth in the Premier League) and needed to occupy the defending champion seat;

2. European league champion. Uefa announced that the champions of the Europa League will be eligible to participate in the next Champions League from the 20 15- 16 season.

3. Relying on league rankings

3. 1

The champions, runners-up and runners-up of the top three leagues under UEFA have a total of 3*3=9 teams;

3.2

Champion and runner-up of UEFA 4-6 league, with a total of 3*2=6 teams;

3.3

UEFA's league champion ranks 7- 13, with a total of 1*7=7 teams;

Special circumstances: If the Champions League champion or Europa League champion occupies the position of defending champion, then the champion of the Association League ranked 13 needs to qualify for the group stage through the championship road play-offs.

To sum up, the total number of direct qualifying teams: 9+6+7=22 teams.

Two, through the play-offs (qualifiers) to obtain the qualification.

1, the road to championship (league champion with weak comprehensive strength)

First round of qualifying: 8 teams ranked 47th-54th in the league championship, totaling 8 teams, with 4 teams left in the knockout stage;

Second round of qualifiers: 30 teams ranked as 17-46 league champions+4 teams won in the first round of qualifiers, totaling 34 teams, leaving 17 teams after the knockout;

Third round qualifier: 17 team won the second round qualifier +3 teams ranked 14- 16 league champion, a total of 20 teams, leaving 10 team after the knockout;

Play-offs: Team KLOC-0/0 wins in the third round of qualifying, totaling 10. After the knockout stage, five teams advanced to the Champions League group stage;

2. The road to the league (the runner-up, runner-up or runner-up with strong comprehensive strength directly enters the third round of qualifying)

The third round of qualifying: 9 teams ranked 7th-1 5th runner-up,1team ranked 6th runner-up, totaling10th team, with 5 teams left after the knockout;

Play-offs: The five teams that won in the third round of the qualifying round+the fourth-fifth place of the Football Association+the third place of the Football Association 1- 0, a total of 10 teams, and the remaining five teams advanced to the Champions League group stage after the knockout;

Special circumstances: If the defending champion occupies a special seat and ranks in the top three of the Association, the Association will send four teams to enter the group stage directly and lose the qualification of ranking channel (for example, Chelsea, England in 20 12/20 13 season). Only 14 teams from 14 association will compete for places in the five ranking methods. In the third round, eight teams decided four teams, and in the fourth round, the team with stronger six teams decided five places.

To sum up, the total qualification for passing the play-offs (qualifiers) in the Champions League group stage is 5+5= 10 teams.

The total number of teams that finally qualified for the European Champions League was 22+ 10=32.
