Who made the Uber Cup?
The Uber Cup was donated by Betty Uber. She was a famous British female badminton player in 1930s. From 1930 to 1949, she won the women's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles championships in the British badminton championship for many times. After retirement, Mrs Uber still has a soft spot for badminton. In order to promote the development of badminton, she officially donated a commemorative cup made by Maipiy and Weber to the International Badminton Federation at the Council meeting of 1956, and personally presided over the lottery ceremony of the first Uber Cup competition.
