Morning Post reporter Zhu She
When I was in Tomb-Sweeping Day, I talked about the funeral customs in Quanzhou before, and there were some practices of stopping mourning, some of which lasted for dozens of days, years or even decades, and even more strangely, some lasted for hundreds of years!
Seven coffins stopped for three hundred years;
Chen Pengpeng of Quanzhou Cultural Relics Protection Research Center said that seven Ming coffins in Liu Fucheng were buried after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, which lasted for more than 300 years.
Turning to page 30 of "Tan Tan, Neighborhood of Quanzhou Ancient City", the reporter saw an old photo of seven coffins, which was taken in the former residence. In the photo, many people gathered around seven coffins. At the head of the garden at the junction of Hu Axiang and Xucuo City on Zhongshan Road, there is a place called Liu Fucheng, where "seven coffins" were once parked.
It is said that the owner of the coffin is seven people, including Liu Qichun, the fifth generation descendant of Liu who graduated from primary school. They were martyred in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and they were buried in the coffin only after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, and the monument was buried in Zhongshan Park in Quanzhou.
There are various rumors about a family of seven martyrs:
Yesterday, the reporter visited Mr. Gong, a literary and historical figure in Quanzhou, and asked him to introduce the story of seven coffins.
It turned out that as an old man of the Ming Dynasty, Liu Qichun suffered a national change and vowed not to surrender. His family died seven times. After the clansmen received it, they changed their names to escape the Qing army. These seven coffins are therefore "ownerless" and have not been buried for a long time, which is the origin of Liu Fucheng's seven coffins.
Seven coffins have been placed in the garden for about 300 years, and some people have made many creepy rumors. People always feel very spooky when they pass by the residence, and dare not stay here for a long time.
In the 1920s, it was popular to buy a "flower stand" (a lottery ticket) in Quanzhou. Driven by the high profit of "one yuan and 29 seats", many men and women are keen on this. In order to win the lottery, the citizens frantically asked God for help everywhere. It is said that the cleverest of the "seven coffins" is an unmarried lady of 13 years old. Every day, flower sellers come here and come out to buy flowers. So many people come here to sacrifice, hoping to get rich overnight. It is said that a man won the lottery and the owner of the flower stall went bankrupt. The owner of the flower stall immediately stabbed the coffin with silver and soaked it with black dog's blood to dispel the accumulated hatred and ward off evil spirits. This coffin will not work in the future.
1935, there was a big flood in Quanzhou, and seven coffins in Liu Fu drifted around from the water tail to the bell tower. After the flood receded, the legend automatically returned to its original place.
According to many experts' research, Liu Fucheng's seven coffins belonged to people in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, and the conclusion was that the whole family was martyred. But for a long time, folklore has always existed.
Rumors are not credible, but all kinds of bizarre rumors, coupled with people's superstitions, spread, and anyone who wants to be buried is either dead or sick, making the seven coffins solid for hundreds of years. ...
The falling mound was a sensation:
Gong introduced that 1946, Luo Erzhan, then the administrative inspector and security commander of fourth area, Fujian Province, and Wu Delu, the county magistrate of Jinjiang, made up their minds to relocate and bury seven coffins at the urging of people from all walks of life.
Wang Yungong, the police chief, was ordered to choose the location of the cemetery and the workers who built it. There happened to be a Fuzhou carpenter named Zhang Chengyi in the county government, and the county magistrate Wu Delu personally asked him to undertake this task. Zhang went home to mention this to his wife, who strongly opposed it. Knowing that this matter could not be shirked, Zhang went to the Guandi Temple in Tumen Street to draw lots and signed a poem saying: "The price of grazing is easy to discuss, and it hurts each other when it comes to the court; Even if the authoritative figures win, they will be designated as descendants of future generations. " Zhang Chengyi, who was afraid at first, signed the contract, which made the situation worse and resolutely refused to build it. Commissioner Luo Erzhan mobilized him many times, but he just refused. Finally, Luo Erzhan showed him the prepared eulogy. There is a saying in the article that if there is anything in the future, I will bear it alone and will not bring trouble to others.
Commissioner, county magistrate and police chief came forward, and the carpenter finally crustily skin of head agreed. The cemetery was chosen in Zhongshan Park in the city. For fear of offending ghosts and gods, he asked to build a tomb of his own free will. On the day of peace, he will bring his own "three sacrifices" to sacrifice them, and all his requirements will be met.
The cemetery has been built, but who will carry the coffin on the day of the funeral? Wang Yungong, the police chief, visited five wharf trade unions in Jinjiang, and none of them dared to undertake it. Wang Yungong finally went to the Wubao dock workers, and the Wubao dock sent 80 people to carry the coffin. The workers' condition is that this move is purely voluntary, regardless of wages, but when carrying the coffin, everyone should tie a red cloth to his body for good luck. Because most of the dockers in Wubao are surnamed Liu, in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, Liu fled to escape the pursuit of the Qing army, and most of the living people changed their surnames to Liu, so Liu Yuan is a family.
On the day of the funeral, the Commissioner presided over the ceremony, and people from all walks of life in Jinjiang and descendants of Liu also sent people to attend. After the public sacrifice, the trumpets cleared the way, followed by gongs and drums. The funeral procession started from Xucuo City, Hu Axiang, Zhongshan Road, and went to Zhongshan Park via Zhongshan Middle Road. There are crowds of people watching along the street. After more than 300 years, the seven coffins that have been "non-stop for a long time" finally rest in peace, and all kinds of superstitious rumors have come to an end.
Yesterday, the reporter came to Hu Axiang to find the location of the past seven coffins mentioned by the old gentlemen. As a result, only the place name of Liu Fucheng (the junction of Hu Axiang and Xucuo City in Zhongshan Road) was found, but there was no trace of that year. It is said that the tomb of Liu Jun Garden, which was built in Zhongshan Park, is east-west. The granite tombstone is tall and engraved with "Seven Coffins of the Tomb of the Martyrs"; Until 1958, the stadium was expanded, the tomb was excavated by the historical archaeological team of Xiamen University, some sacrificial objects were taken away, and the cemetery was razed. This is why we can't see the remains of seven coffins in Zhongshan Park now.
Since then, Liu Fucheng and the seven coffins have remained in the memory of old Quanzhou people.
