1In June 1942, German fascists shot and killed more than 140 male citizens over the age of 0/6 and all their babies in Tekolidize village, and took women and 90 children to concentration camps. All the houses and buildings in the village were burned down, and a good village was destroyed by German fascists.
In order to mourn the children who died in the fascist war of aggression in Caicun, Li Di, and all over the world, 1949 165438 10, the International Democratic Women's Federation held a board meeting in Moscow, and China and representatives of other countries angrily exposed the crimes of imperialists and reactionaries from all over the world in killing and poisoning children. In order to protect children's rights to life, medical care and education all over the world and improve their lives, the meeting decided to designate June 1 day as International Children's Day every year.
Before that, many countries in the world had Children's Day. 1925, the International Association for the Happiness of Children initiated the establishment of Children's Day. Britain, the United States, Japan and other countries responded positively and set up their own Children's Day. Britain stipulates that July of 14 is Children's Day, and the United States stipulates that May of 1 year is Children's Day. Japan's Children's Day is very special, divided into boys' Children's Day and girls' Children's Day, boys' Children's Day on May 5th and girls' Children's Day on March 3rd. China also stipulated in 193 1 that April 4th is China Children's Day.
Since 1 June 19491was established as the International Children's Day, countries all over the world have abolished the original Children's Day and unified it into "June 1 International Children's Day". On February 1949, the central government of China announced that "Children's Day on June 1st" replaced the original "Children's Day on April 4th" and stipulated that children should have a holiday of one or seven days.
At present, many countries in the world have designated June 1 as Children's Day, especially socialist countries. In Europe and the United States, the date of Children's Day is different, and public celebrations are rarely held. (See further discussion in Germany below for details) Only socialist countries have designated June 1 as Children's Day, which is often misunderstood. In fact, in recent years, some organizations in the United States have begun to consider June 1 day as Children's Day.
Asia
People's Republic of China (PRC)
Starting from 1949, People's Republic of China (PRC) officially designated June 1 as the International Children's Day. Schools generally organize related group activities for this purpose, requiring students to dress formally (wear white shirts and blue pants before popularizing school uniforms). Although Hong Kong is now a part of the Republic of China, the date of Children's Day in Hong Kong is still April 4th of the Republic of China. The way of folk celebration is to give children toys and gifts, or to accompany them out for a big meal or play.
Republic of China (19 12- 1949)
193 1 year, the Salesian Society of China initiated by Kong Xiangxi proposed to designate April 4th as Children's Day of the Republic of China. Since then, the legislature of the Republic of China has stipulated in Article 5 of the Measures for the Implementation of Remembrance Days and Festivals that Children's Day on April 4 shall be celebrated by relevant organs, organizations and schools and shall not be listed as a national statutory holiday. Hong Kong also regards this day as Children's Day.
Japan
Children's Day is called "Children's Day" in Japan (Japanese: こどもの), which is a traditional festival. On May 5th every year, Japanese families celebrate their children's growth. Before World War II, this festival was called "Dragon Boat Festival" (Japanese: Dragon Boat Festival), and it was only a boy's festival. 1948, when this festival becomes a public holiday, it becomes a festival to celebrate the happiness and welfare of all children. On the festival day, Japanese families will hang fish-shaped signs on the roofs to symbolize that children can eliminate bad luck, overcome difficulties and grow up smoothly.
However, Japan has a separate Girls' Day on March 3rd, which is developed from Shangsi Festival and celebrated by placing various dolls. Hanging the carp flag on Men's Day originated from the legend of "Seeking Dragon" and "Carp yue longmen" in China.
South Korea
South Korea's Children's Day (Korean:) started at 1923 and evolved from "Boys' Day". This is also a public holiday in Korea, which is scheduled for May 5th every year. Parents usually take their children to parks, zoos or other entertainment facilities on this day, so that they can spend their holidays happily.
India
In India, Children's Day is the birthday of the founding Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, and it is 1 1.04 every year.
Türkiye
April 23rd is Turkey's "National Sovereignty and Children's Day". This festival comes from the date of the Turkish National Assembly in 1920 during the Turkish War of Independence. 1929, according to the suggestion of child protection organizations, this day was designated as Children's Day. Starting from 1986, the Turkish government began to celebrate International Children's Day on April 23rd.
Thailand
Children's Day in Thailand is on the second Saturday in January.
Europe
Germany
During the Cold War, East Germany and West Germany did different things on Children's Day. First, the dates are different: East Germany is scheduled for June 1, and West Germany is scheduled for September 20th; Its name is also different: East Germany calls it "International Children's Day" and West Germany calls it "Weltkindertag". In addition, there are differences in the traditions of festivals.
In GDR, Children's Day begins at 1950. Since then, this day has been the happiest day of the year for children. I often receive blessings and gifts from my parents, and the school also holds special celebrations, such as outings. In the Federal Republic of Germany, Children's Day has no special significance, and many people don't even know the existence of this festival.
With the reunification of Germany in 1990, the date and name of Children's Day in West Germany became the official unified standard in Germany. However, in many places in East Germany, people still can't change old habits and titles. So every June 1, many parents still celebrate Children's Day with their children.
