John, chapter 2, section 18.

Because everything in the world, such as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of this life, is not from the father, but from the world. This passage tells us that there are three kinds of desires in the world: "the lust of the body, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of this life." What is carnal desire? Like adultery, fornication, drunkenness, famine, gluttony and so on. In order to satisfy physical desires, people should love the world and serve mankind. Then what is lust? For example, I am addicted to reading all kinds of pornographic and absurd books and watching harmful and even obscene TV, movies and pictures. The devil uses these to poison God's children, waste their time and steal their hearts. What is the pride of this life? Everything a person has in his life can be a proud capital. If you have money, you are proud of it. With knowledge, you are proud of it. Some believers even make progress in their faith, and they are proud of it as soon as it is passed on by mouth. These are all from the world, and they are all sins. As soon as these sins in the world occupy people's hearts, as soon as people fall in love with them, the love for the father and the love for the savior Jesus are not in him. May the spirit of the Lord open the eyes of every believer so that we can all see that the world and its lust will pass away, but those who do God's will will live forever.
