I. Track events
Track events are all competitions including running and walking on designated runways or roads. If track and field is called the mother of sports, then running, especially sprinting, is also called the mother of track and field, so the status of track and field is very high, such as sprinter Bolt and China's 100-meter hero Su, all of which have attracted much attention and great influence.
Track events are generally measured in metric system, which reflects speed, including: 100m, 200m and 400m sprints; 100m,110m hurdles; 800 meters and 1500 meters; 3000m, 5000m, 10000m long-distance running; 3,000-meter steeplechase; Marathon running; 10 km, 20 km, 30 km, 50 km race walk.
However, some track and field competitions in western countries use British units of measurement, such as 1 mile race, which is also of great concern in Europe and America. The sprinting and 800-meter running of track events are divided and partially divided, and the number of events is determined by drawing lots.
The race must be played counterclockwise on the runway. In addition, there are relay races of team events on the runway, such as 4x100m and 4X400. But marathons and walking races can be done on the road. If a large number of people participate in track events, the preliminaries and rematches will be eliminated in groups, and the rest will finally enter the finals.
Two. field event
General track and field events are held in special areas stipulated by track and field sports, including jumping and throwing events, which is a kind of athletic ability to show its achievements by reflecting its height or distance. The content of field events is rich and varied, with strong appreciation, climax after climax and suspense during the competition.
Field events include high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw and hammer throw. Among them, shot put, discus and javelin, commonly known as "three irons", are weapons or competition equipment that originated from ancient people's struggle with nature or enemies in early sports meetings. In modern track and field competitions, the use of throwing instruments is more scientific and perfect.
In field events, the specifications of shot put, discus and javelin are different between men and women, and the throwing equipment used by men is bigger and heavier than that of women. China's "third-class" track and field events have won many honors for the country in international competitions, especially for women. The shot put, discus and javelin all performed brilliantly in winning the championship.
The elimination system is also adopted for field events with a large number of people. First, the preliminaries will be held, and then the athletes with the highest score and the best will enter the finals. Specify several chances to jump or throw, and then in these competitions, the best result is counted as your final result or ranking.
