This county is the hometown of Emperor Yan, and many ancient cultural relics have been preserved in it, which is rare in China.

In the vast land of Shanxi, a splendid civilization was born and a large number of cultural relics were preserved. Despite the vicissitudes of time, the original glory can still be found here.

In Jincheng, southeast of Shanxi, there is such a county-level administrative unit. It used to be the hometown of Yan Di, the ancestor of mankind, and many cultural relics were preserved here. The completeness and richness of Yan Di cultural relics are rare in China.

This county is Gaoping City (county-level city) under the jurisdiction of Jincheng City. Gaoping City is located in the southeast of Shanxi Province, the north of Zezhou Basin and the southwest edge of Taihang Mountain. Lingchuan County in the east, Qinshui County in the west, Zezhou County in the south, Shangdang District and Zhangzi County in Changzhi City in the north. It is a veritable north gate of Jincheng. Gaoping City is named "Gaoping City" because it is surrounded by mountains and has a relatively flat terrain in the middle.

Emperor Yan is the ancestor of mankind and an important figure in the inheritance of Chinese civilization. According to legend, Emperor Yan lived in the southeast of Shanxi Province. He led the tribe to "taste the grain, make thunder and teach people to plow the fields" and achieved a great leap in Chinese civilization. According to legend, Emperor Yan was also the inventor of agriculture and medicine, and later died of poisoning from herbs. Emperor Yan died and was buried in lizhuang village, Shennong Town, Gaoping City. In Gaoping, there is an ancient cultural town, Shennong Town, where many legends and relics about Emperor Yan are preserved, forming a Yan Di cultural area with dense cultural relics, complete types, rich contents and high quality.

The story of Emperor Yan is too far away, which leads to its legendary nature. Yandi culture is also spread all over the country. However, Gaoping, as one of the famous places, retains many cultural heritages. Even after historical changes, it still preserves many historical sites and tells the great achievements of this ancestor of humanity.

In Shennong Town, which is under the jurisdiction of Gaoping City, there is a Yangtoushan Yan Di cultural tourist area, where many cultural relics are preserved. These cultural relics have stood here for thousands of years. Yangtoushan, also known as shouyangshan, is located at the junction of Ze and Lu countries, which spans Gaoping City, Zhangzi County and Changzhi County. It is named after the statue tower on the top of the Northern Wei Dynasty, which is shaped like a sheep's head. Yangtou Mountain is one of the legendary Shennong centers in Yan Di. There is an old Shennong city at the top of the mountain, and Shennong well and grain bed at the foot of the mountain. During the Northern Wei Dynasty, beautiful grottoes and statue towers were left at the top of the mountain. The statue tower at the top of the mountain was built in the early Northern Wei Dynasty, which has been 1500 years. It is one of the oldest stone pagodas in China. There are statues carved on all sides of the stone pagoda, all of which are one Buddha and two bodhisattvas. Above the pagoda, there is a four-slope water-shaped tower top with a rare sheep head as the base.

Shennong City is located at the top of Yangtou Mountain. Although the specific date of its construction has not been verified, according to historical records, it has existed for at least 1000 years, and the only existing buildings are stone pillars, stone steps and stone derricks. In addition, there is also a Grain Temple in lizhuang village, Shennong Town, Gaoping City. Lizhuang village, formerly known as lizhuang village, was named after the legendary death of Emperor Yan and the homophonic name changed to Li Zhuang. Lizhuang Wugu Temple is divided into upper and lower floors, and its construction date has been impossible to verify, but the growth age of Cooper in the temple has been two or three thousand years. Therefore, it can be inferred that the Grain Temple may have existed earlier.

Among the cultural relics of Yan Di in Gaoping City, there are still many cultural relics such as Yan Di Mausoleum, Guduan Yandi Palace, Gaoping Tsinghua Temple and Gaoping Yan Di Temple, thus forming the richest Yan Di cultural relics circle in China. The inheritance and preservation of Yan Di culture and the rich number of cultural relics are also rare in China. Although the information about Yan Di is still controversial, as an important part of Chinese civilization, it has been passed down in Gaoping for thousands of years.
