Dongguan, also known as "Guancheng", is a prefecture-level city in Guangdong Province and one of the five prefecture-level cities without districts in China. Located in the southeast of Guangzhou, on the east bank of the Pearl River Estuary and adjacent to Shenzhen in the south, it is an international garden city, a national civilized city, a national basketball city, an important transportation hub and foreign trade port in Guangdong. Founded in the Three Kingdoms period, Jianxian County has a history of more than 1700 years. It is an important birthplace of Lingnan civilization, the opening place of China's modern history and the forerunner of reform and opening up. It is an important transportation hub and foreign trade port in Guangdong, the head of the "Four Little Dragons of Guangdong" and is known as the "World Factory".
1988 0 1, Dongguan was upgraded to a prefecture-level city. In July, the preparatory group of Guancheng District People's Government of Dongguan City was established, which is a county-level unit (the first district planned to be established after the establishment of a prefecture-level city in Dongguan, but it was planned to be aborted due to the opposition of Guangzhou authorities), and it has jurisdiction over five sub-district offices, namely, inner city sub-district office, outer city sub-district office, attached city sub-district office, Ruocun sub-district office and Wanjiang sub-district office.
